Sleep... simply because Japan is geographically near, and easier to hit, and the USA is very far away, possibly outside of the (reliable strike) range of any missiles that NK have.

CaveMum · 14/04/2017 10:02

Sleep I'm not sure that even NK are daft enough to deluberately target US assets in the region. Even in their deluded state they know that any attack on US troops/hardware is an act of war and that they'd be wiped of the face of the map.

It's the poor sods in the general population I feel for, I'm sure many quietly realise that things aren't as they are portrayed, but a large proportion believe the all-conquering NK rhetoric that is spewed out by the regime. The collapse of the regime would be an utter shock to them.

QueenOfThorns · 14/04/2017 10:03

I don't think they have the capability of nuking anywhere further than Japan, SleepFreeZone

AndHoldTheBun · 14/04/2017 10:03

And trump won't nuke NK in response to nuclear tests, he'll use conventional (tomahawk?) missiles, I think.

SanFranBear · 14/04/2017 10:07

As I understand it, the strike a was to take out the small grip that ISIS had started to gain over that region. The tunnels made it much easier for the terrorists to hide away and plan their next move and they were a trying to seriously ramp up numbers.

I am guessing that the strike was supposed to take out '000s but it sounds like what their end game was and the US have just gone in too soon.

Or maybe it wasn't like that at all and it was just somewhere for Scrotus to play 'my willy's bigger than yours' which we all know is a lie Sad

If this had yielded significant results (as in destroyed a serious number of insurgents as well as crippling their access to Afghanistan), I could almost understand it but right now it seems pretty senseless

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 14/04/2017 10:08

He'd better not nuke Japan, if I have to change this year's holiday once more I shall be Very Cross Indeed (already ditched New England as not happy with going to the US, and transferred booking to Japan).

GingerIvy · 14/04/2017 10:09

Even if he doesn't nuke NK, that doesn't mean they won't attempt to nuke others. And I don't buy the "nobody will attack the US" thing. It's happened before, it'll likely happen again. And there are always American targets in other countries, like embassies.

Assuming that the US is too militarised to attack or too powerful is foolish indeed and shows a false sense of security.

Jeez, haven't you people SEEN Star Wars?? Remember the Death Star?? Hmm

I'm not building a shelter. When I read 'The Road' I decided the mother had the right idea. With everything that's going on at the mo, my view has not changed.

Trump has funding for just 7 miles of border wall
That may get lower if he keeps bombing places.

Thinks I'll set up a crowd funding page to buy a very deep cave to hide in, anyone else up for a hideaway with no WiFi?

cozietoesie · 14/04/2017 10:52

Just don't look to buy near Punggye-ri, any time soon.

That Guardian article is helpful in that it properly defines MOAB: Massive Ordnance Air Blast. I thought Mother of All Bombs was a tad colloquial.

I know that you all dislike generalisations but the Chinese, in my experience, are surprisingly tolerant of children and children's waywardness.

I expected all of this.

I am interested to see how the Easter Egg Hunt goes on Sunday at the WH. It's the biggest event of the year there, and by all accounts, appears to be shaping up to be frighteningly bad. We shall see.
