To think one Easter egg a child is enough

I'm not a total killjoy, but i want to limit their intake to one over Easter and give away the others.

Even just one contains 16 tea spoons of sugar! Seeing as sugar is linked to diabetes, obesity and cancer i do want to limit it. They've been given 8 eggs each so far, with at least two more to come over the weekend. It's just too much imo.

There's no significance to it for us at all. DD might get an Xmas present in June. She couldn't give a toss.

Itaint me and DH have massive families they will end up with 20 odd same as last year. I can't see either of them being arsed about giving some away.

So when you have a glut of something giving them to a charity where people in need will get them is mean?!

I think it's giving away DC's that might sound mean.

I don't think it does kids (I'm including my own in that) any harm to learn not everyone is as lucky as them.

Is there an age limit to sending your grandchildren money to buy an Easter Egg, or something else. We have three grandchildren, two 21 year old girls and a 14 Year old boy who is autistic? We feel our grandson should receive something but I feel the two girls are too old now, what do you think please?

I'll only be getting my kids one, and a small one at that. Probably one with a breakfast set with it. They are only 2 and 4 so don't need loads. I buy the fillable plastic eggs and do an egg hunt with little toys inside too rather than chocolate (little paw patrol figures and the like).

I’m 43 and my Nan and my parents still buy me and my siblings an Easter egg each....there’s no age limit for chocolate 😂

Molly4409 My granny still gives me something at Easter... I have a 7year old! Blush

I don’t think there are rules, but I cherish it that she still gets me wee gifts. She is very old and it is very precious.

I think five is about right to eat over a couple of weeks donating the rest is lovely idea.

One each I think is a little parsimonious. If your dc generally have a good diet it won't harm you then as a one off!

Also to answer the year old op, we do have loads of eggs. Dd doesn’t really bother with them after the first day, and I end up using them to bake with in the following weeks/months.

We have a fairly ‘everything in moderation’ attitude and I honestly think that takes the ‘taboo’ out of it, so she never goes crazy with chocolate and things.

molly spoil them, perhaps money in a card? Life is very very short... We will be dead a long long time.. There is enough misery in this world.. Let's jump at the chance to maximise joy at these times!!

This thread is a year old, do you think the OP has finished all the eggs by now? Grin

Titty, time will tell whether your dc truly care or not about your strict ideas and going against the norm. At the moment it's called learned behaviour. What you do is what your dc think is what should be done.

I feel moderation and balance is the general key in most areas of life, any extremes, trying to be clever and prove point through dc makes me shudder.

Yes nottaken but she replied to a year old thread, and snow was replying to a poster who commented last year.
A sneaky zombie thread!

I hear ya. Unfortunately I commented and didn’t unwatch so now after scrolling past this thread one too many times I’m cracking into an extremely unhealthy Easter egg two full weeks before I should! Blush

I would encourage them to donate some to a foodbank. Or challenge them to raise as much for Sport Relief as they can by thinking of some way to utilise an egg/some eggs to raise money.

We usually still have some at Christmas for ds6 and then hubby eats them. Tbh he only get two or three though and he’s not a huge chocolate fan.

One Easter egg is plenty YANBU

My boys used to get roughly 25 eggs each. Family, friends, neighbours etc. Every easter the following year we would throw away at least 7 eggs each. That's after making- rice crispy cakes, rocky roads, brownies etc.

I buy my nieces and nephew a colouring book and creme egg each. Know even a tiny egg full of sugar but works well. Bro and SIL reciprocate with an Easter themed non sweet treat and tiny token chocolate
