I know, I know. We were pretty late to The Wiggles wagon, but a thought struck me tonight about how ds2 was OBSESSED only 8/9 short years ago and now he's....well, nearly 11 and into FIFA
I miss Jeff and Dorothy. And especially Anthony. Grin

I took DD, now 11, to see them when she was 4, didn't realise that we should have taken a rose for Dorothy the Dinosaur, I felt so guilty I had let DD down

RedGrapeCornSnake · 12/04/2017 22:01

Ahh, fond memories of Captain Feathersword 😊

TheRealPooTroll · 12/04/2017 22:02

My eldest loved the wiggles. Didn't realise Murray got replaced! And they were all male when dd was into them. I remember being shocked at how old Jeff was (I think it was 60 something) despite not really looking any older than the others.

picklemepopcorn · 12/04/2017 22:02

There's a girl wiggle?!? Feminism may have gone too far...
Surely the original wiggles and captain feathersword are an inviolable Australian national treasure that should not be messed with!

picklemepopcorn · 12/04/2017 22:03

No wonder they needed to wake him up a lot.

PensPencilsandRulers · 12/04/2017 22:03

Ah no I just google imaged the wiggles for a little trip down memory lane. What's happened! They (nearly) all have new heads!Shock

TheRealPooTroll · 12/04/2017 22:04

Dorothy the Dinosaur was their catchiest imo. Also liked Where's Jeff?

Munted · 12/04/2017 22:06

My wiggly lips are sealed, but if you were to google Sam Moran and his leaving the Wiggles, you might see what was printed at the time (about which I can't comment)

And if you were to watch the Hula Hula Baby DVD, you might find it interesting how little Sam featured (given he was the lead singer) and how much Anthony's wife and kids featured (given they are not in the Wiggles at all). It's all very sad (and this coming from a 'who is this usurping Yellow wiggle, Bring Back Greg' person).

ps. I actually have a life outside of the Wiggles in a responsible profession and everything. This was just kind of my specialist subject between the hours of 5am and 6pm for a few years...

ZackyVengeance · 12/04/2017 22:16

Anthony
Thats him, i think cos i have to watch them so often i have forgot my love of the metal look and fallen for him

Hulababy · 12/04/2017 22:19

Ah Dd loved The Wiggles. We went to see hem with friends when she was small. She's 15 now

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 12/04/2017 22:30

My dc used to love the Wiggles. They are now 18 and 20 so we haven't watched them.for years. We did go to see them when they came to Cambridge about 15 years ago.

I hadn't realised the line up had changed so when someone up thread said the red and yellow Wiggles had had a baby together I thought "Aren't Murray and Greg a bit old to be having kids? And I thought Greg was straight?"

My favourite dvd of theirs was one full of them singing songs with Aussie celebrities like Slim Dusty (nope, me neither). I don't think anyone else ever bought it because no one seems to know those songs.

I'm full of nostalgia now. And still secretly fancy Anthony......

FlyAwayPeter · 12/04/2017 22:32

Ahhh, I remember them when they were a post-punk band playing grotty pubs. They were cool then.

Long before Dorothy.

theaveragewife · 12/04/2017 22:35

I have front row tickets to the wiggles on tour this summer Grin so excited for dc2

Dogsmom · 12/04/2017 22:43

We're currently in the midst of Wigglemania as my 2dds are aged 2 and 4 so prime audience, the current line up are the only one's I've known and dd1 is obsessed with Emma because 1 they share a name and 2 she wears yellow which is dd's favourite colour.
They're on Netflix so there's rarely a day I'm not sat watching them (usually long after dd's have wandered out of the room)

ZackyVengeance · 12/04/2017 22:55

omg they are on netfix
im off to look

notafish · 12/04/2017 23:10

Yes. We drove 2 plus hours away to see a live show when DD1 was 3.it was the original line up. I took rather a lot of photos of Anthony. She was such a timid little girl but she got up and danced in the aisle to quack quack quack quack, cock-a-doodle-doo. Happy days. DD2 ruined things by being frightened of captain feathersword and the puppet-wiggles, so we couldn't watch the dd's much after that.

notafish · 12/04/2017 23:10

Dvd

ClarenceOddbody · 12/04/2017 23:13

Sam was the best. He has got a really good singing voice.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 12/04/2017 23:16

My 15yo DS loved the Wiggles!

My brother's cat is called Dorothy and DH and I sing the Dorothy the dinosaur song to her every time we see her, much to DS's disgust Grin

I had a big crush on Captain Feathersword Blush

Chavelita · 12/04/2017 23:18

God, Munted, I had no idea. Reading an account of the whole Battle of the Yellow Wiggles is like trying to remember who hated who in Fleetwood Mac line-ups. Grin

TheRealPooTroll · 12/04/2017 23:20

I've just been reading about how they shafted Sam as well. It's put me off them now. I always thought they seemed wholesome and kind!

AirandMungBeans · 12/04/2017 23:24

Mine are 2 and 4 and very much into the Wiggles, although we are firmly in the old line up camp, but I do like Sam. Does he still count as the old line up?

childmaintenanceserviceinquiry · 12/04/2017 23:29

I have read the thread, BUT NEW WIGGLES, Nooooo.

We luffs the Wiggles. DS is 11 but he "chooses" to play their CD's (quite a lot).

Tour? We must go!

Cuppaand2biscuits · 12/04/2017 23:30

We just watched the wiggles dvd yesterday. I also have the version with Rolf Harris singing 'Tie me kangaroo down'. I bought it about 5 years ago. My kids are still preschool and we love it. Rock a bye bear is a big classic at local playgroups.
I'm definitely looking up the tour dates!

Zenzie · 12/04/2017 23:54

The new purple Wiggle, Lachy, is a charisma vacuum. If you look carefully you can see him signaling desperately with his eyes that he is being held against his will, all while singing Down By the Station.
