to give up on finding a pair of jeans that fit me

I have been on this mission for nearly 2 years. Angry trying on jeans in all shops over the UK 😛

I'm not the skinniest of women but should I have to be a size 10 to find something decent, comfortable, flattering and affordable. is this a pipedream? All the other jeans wearers hate all their jeans too?

I am a size 14-16. When slimmer I still have a big bum and big legs but slimmer waist and it's still the same problem. I also am not well off so want affordable jeans (high street prices).

The problems I am encountering:

-Stretchy jeans often seem to be very thin, look like leggings and look cheap and unflattering on me
-Thicker yet still stretchy jeans seem to not fit well on the waistband, (which is rigid) if regular waist and sitting down/bending is agonising.
-High waisted jeans seem to produce an unflattering kangaroo pouch effect around the crotch area, right?

  • The next sized up jeans (16) are a bit baggy and once the denim loosens up I am constantly yanking them up by the waistband

Where do you all buy your jeans?

This thread just shows how difficult it is to get good fitting jeans as for every one person recommending a brand there's another saying the opposite

I've always had chunky thighs and calves, a bum, a waist and quite a curve in my back. Also 5'4". I'm a 10-12.

Here's what's worked for me though bear in mind it's not been consistent: Uniqlo (you can free length adjustment) , Sainsbury straight leg short, Levi's Demi Curve. For anyone else with a similar shape M & S Classic chinos have been a really good fit if you can get over them being from their senior citizens range. Smile

I found matalan Jeggings are really good. however have you thought of going to a seamstress to take the waist in?

Chloe1984 · 11/04/2017 11:58

Definitely recommend the Next 360 jeans, undoubtedly the best jeans I've ever had. So flattering and hold you in around the waist and add good shape to your bum. Very comfortable and allow you to move about in them easily, they keep their shape and don't sag and also stay in place around the waist and you don't have to keep hoiking them up.

Previously Lands End do high waist, mid waist and low waist. They've sadly stopped doing my favourite tapered legs and so do straight, shortcut and slim leg, but the straight leg are OK. I am a UK 18, and have no problem with their jeans. The high waist stays where it should.

Evans pear fit jeggings are great. Thick enough to look like jeans, but stretchy enough to be comfy. Only go down to a size 14 though.

I wear black ones for work and denim for casual. They last for ages, wash and tumble dry well and are cheap.

Gave up years ago sounds like you have similar problems to me, main one being if they fit at the front I can stuff tennis balls in the back

Oblomov17 · 11/04/2017 15:05

I thought I have given up. Big in the thigh and small waist seems impossible to buy for.

I TAKE IT ALL BACK
M&s skinny sculpt and lift seem to have come into my life today! £35 though

I'm a size 18 shortass with big bum/thighs but smaller waist. I've recently discovered m&s sculpt and lift, straight leg mid rise - I bought two pairs and pretty much live in them. Don't dig in, comfy, look ok :-)

GreenHariboBear · 11/04/2017 16:48

I'm pear shaped and have a small waist but a bum and chunky legs (and a curved back). Vero Moda are fantastic. Dorothy Perkins is a bit of a hit and miss but sometimes have nice stuff.

If you can afford it, I love Lee. They look great and last for ages! Not cheap but they are long lasting and nicely tailored.

(Not had time to rtft)
Try Evans pear-fit jeans - not a fan of their stuff in general but these are fab. I actually came down a size compared to buying regular-fit jeans elsewhere!

trinity0097 · 11/04/2017 17:40

M and S per una Roma rise straight leg, never tried the denim ones, but the like jeans but not really denim jeans are great. They have jewels on the backside and pocket, but not really obvious!

cuckooplusone · 11/04/2017 17:49

Similar issue for me, I like Howies, not cheap but they last well and I feel good about the ethical bit

Doughnutsandrainbows · 11/04/2017 18:39

another vote for sainsburys... currently (well until baby bump appeared) wear sainsburys skinny. £14.00 or less if they have 25% off very comfy and good size I'm 14/16/18 depending on how much cake I've eaten recently.
