At this point, I feel that it's just as likely that Assad is telling the truth as it is likely that Trump is.

If you watch that BBC interview Ford asks, what was the benefit for Assad carrying out chemical attack? That reactions to events need to be measured, and the media needs to avoid hysteria, and to watch out for encouraging other similar events. It's really interesting.

Assad says chemical attack in Syria was '100% fabricated'

I remember that we thought the timing of the chemical attack, followed by the swift bombing, while warning Russia and therefore Syria, was very odd indeed.
Trump distracted from internal problems, it showed him as supposedly distancing from Russia, it showed him as a "strong military leader" and sent a coincidentally well timed message to Korea and China.

Nothing odd about the whole episode.

There seems to be increasing evidence that Russia was involved in the chemical attack, which suggests that if Assad did do it he did so with a certain amount of carrot or stick from Putin.

Does anyone else feel like they should be busy fashioning a shiny tinfoil hat right now?
