This is so odd...I've been in my lounge at about this time last two days and this little old lady had trotted Past my house, stopped in front of he drive, opened her little trolley and emptied a few bricks onto my drive!!!!
Now our drive is in the middle of being done so has stacks of bricks on it anyway but she is just tossing her old ones onto my drive!

Would I be mean to say something next time? I really don't want to have to clear her rubbish as they obvs aren't the same bricks we are using. So weird!

Perhaps she thinks she's being helpful by adding to your brick collection! I would definitely say something - perhaps "It's kind of you but we already have all the bricks we need."

Ha ha you've all made me chuckle. Honestly the brazenness of it makes me not want to say anything. We have massive floor to ceiling doors out front so she must see I'm there!!!

When the drive is finished she will park on it because she has provided some of the bricks so it will now be partially hers. I await the parking thread (with diagram showing exactly which bricks are hers and yours).

Clearly she 'borrowed' a couple of your bricks temporarily (probably had a bookshelf or a table that needed propping up) and , as is the habit with kindly old ladies, is returning the bricks as the bookshelf and or table has been fixed by her doting grandchild.

I'm going to have to! I've only seen her twice but she could've been doing it for ages ( my husband does drivesways and is doing ours gradually so it has been in a state for a good few months 😬😬

I would secretly follow her home and put her bricks back outside her door each day when she isn't looking :-)

A few years ago I caught a visitor (who happened to be a little old lady) to a neighbour further down our cul-de-sac tying up the tops of the green grass clippings bags we left out for the binmen.

Luckily I stopped her after the first ... for some reason she had decided to do us a favour. The only problem being our binmen would only take green bags that were NOT sealed (as they upended them into the compactor).

I was as diplomatic as I could be and thanked her for her kind gesture, but it was an odd thing to happen. She wasn't local, so had no idea what the score was "Why do they need them open," she said, sniffily "surely they can see what's in them ?". I just replied it must be some council jobsworth rule, and she harrumphed in agreement and toddled off.

MrsLH and I never worked out why it was only our bags she felt needed tying. She must have walked past 10 other houses which had their bags lined up without feeling the need to help.

I read somewhere that bricks are quite expensive and that they get stolen. Maybe she's done you a favour.

Well I'd have to exit at the side of the house and run round to the front - and I have a toddler so it makes it a mission to hot foot it out the house and still catch her 😂
