This is so odd...I've been in my lounge at about this time last two days and this little old lady had trotted Past my house, stopped in front of he drive, opened her little trolley and emptied a few bricks onto my drive!!!!
Now our drive is in the middle of being done so has stacks of bricks on it anyway but she is just tossing her old ones onto my drive!

Would I be mean to say something next time? I really don't want to have to clear her rubbish as they obvs aren't the same bricks we are using. So weird!

QODRestYeMerryGentlemen · 07/04/2017 17:24

Hahahahahaha cheeky mare

Oh and brace yourself for calling her old 🙄
Is that relavent 😉

Wishiwasmoiradingle2017 · 07/04/2017 17:24

Isn't it obvious?
She expects you to build her a 'granny annexe'!!
She will be along in a few months time with her personal possessions op!!

ButDoYouAvocado · 07/04/2017 17:25

Go after her. 'I think you dropped these!'

Asmoto · 07/04/2017 17:25

Perhaps she thinks she's being helpful by adding to your brick collection! I would definitely say something - perhaps "It's kind of you but we already have all the bricks we need."

user1474439326 · 07/04/2017 17:27

Ha ha you've all made me chuckle. Honestly the brazenness of it makes me not want to say anything. We have massive floor to ceiling doors out front so she must see I'm there!!!

Qod well it makes me want to be mean to her less 😂😂

LordScuttlebutt · 07/04/2017 17:28

She probably thinks you are a brick collection point and is dropping off her used bricks?

MyOtherNameIsTaken · 07/04/2017 17:30

She's in the process of stealing her neighbour's wall and planting the evidence in your garden. :)

NonsensicalNonsense · 07/04/2017 17:31

I would definitely say excuse me what are you doing?! Just be blunt!

Allthebestnamesareused · 07/04/2017 17:32

When the drive is finished she will park on it because she has provided some of the bricks so it will now be partially hers. I await the parking thread (with diagram showing exactly which bricks are hers and yours).

CakesAreBiscuitsToo · 07/04/2017 17:32

Hahahahahaa she's slowly clearing her old bricks.

The cheek! Grin

viques · 07/04/2017 17:34

Clearly she 'borrowed' a couple of your bricks temporarily (probably had a bookshelf or a table that needed propping up) and , as is the habit with kindly old ladies, is returning the bricks as the bookshelf and or table has been fixed by her doting grandchild.

LordScuttlebutt · 07/04/2017 17:35

These posts have me in stitches Grin

Makes me wonder what I'm going to try and get away with when I'm an Old Lady!

SheSaidHeSaid · 07/04/2017 17:36

You HAVE to speak to her next time (and let us know what happens).

user1474439326 · 07/04/2017 17:36

I think
I'm going to have to! I've only seen her twice but she could've been doing it for ages ( my husband does drivesways and is doing ours gradually so it has been in a state for a good few months 😬😬
I'll keep you posted!!

CakesAreBiscuitsToo · 07/04/2017 17:37

I was thinking the same SheSaidHeSaid

Invite her in for a cuppa!

user1474439326 · 07/04/2017 17:37

I'm scared of her! She is obviously hardcore to be so brave

IloveBanff · 07/04/2017 17:40

I'd have gone out there the first time to ask what she was doing. I can't believe you've just been passively watching her!

xStefx · 07/04/2017 17:40

I would secretly follow her home and put her bricks back outside her door each day when she isn't looking :-)

LurkingHusband · 07/04/2017 17:42

A few years ago I caught a visitor (who happened to be a little old lady) to a neighbour further down our cul-de-sac tying up the tops of the green grass clippings bags we left out for the binmen.

Luckily I stopped her after the first ... for some reason she had decided to do us a favour. The only problem being our binmen would only take green bags that were NOT sealed (as they upended them into the compactor).

I was as diplomatic as I could be and thanked her for her kind gesture, but it was an odd thing to happen. She wasn't local, so had no idea what the score was "Why do they need them open," she said, sniffily "surely they can see what's in them ?". I just replied it must be some council jobsworth rule, and she harrumphed in agreement and toddled off.

MrsLH and I never worked out why it was only our bags she felt needed tying. She must have walked past 10 other houses which had their bags lined up without feeling the need to help.

The Great Escape?

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 07/04/2017 17:48

EKL?

Megatherium · 07/04/2017 17:52

I read somewhere that bricks are quite expensive and that they get stolen. Maybe she's done you a favour.

user1474439326 · 07/04/2017 17:52

Well I'd have to exit at the side of the house and run round to the front - and I have a toddler so it makes it a mission to hot foot it out the house and still catch her 😂
