To kiss my own baby in public?

New mum here. I have a habit of kissing LO on his head or cheeks every time I pick him up. I also kiss his head quite frequently while holding him. I do this at home and when out and about. In all honesty I'm addicted Blush However at nct meet ups I've noticed I'm the only one kissing my LO.

No one has said anything to me but would like to know if it would make anyone uncomfortable or if I'm breaking some unwritten rule?

I kissed all of my babies so much, I was frightened of wearing them away ! 😄
Never stop kissing your precious baby OP.

lelapaletute · 06/04/2017 10:09

I kiss my daughter on the lips and some people seem to find this weird. She's 9 weeks old!! I also kiss her on the cheeks, head, tummy, feet and thighs! She's squishy and lovely all over! :)

Summerisdone · 06/04/2017 10:18

Go ahead and do it. Don't worry about giving your baby lots of kisses, I still give my 2yo DS lots, and he comes to me now and asks for 'kiss and snuggles' which I love.

Hmm You know that YANBU.

FrizzyNoodles · 06/04/2017 10:25

I kiss mine all the time. I also blow loud raspberries on her which makes people jump sometimes. She loves it!

KoalaDownUnder · 06/04/2017 10:25

How is this even a question? Confused

I kiss my dog in public

Lweji · 06/04/2017 10:32

It's a definite addiction.

Mine is 12 and I still feel the urge. :)

Bracing myself for the teenage years.

AliceKlar · 06/04/2017 10:43

YANBU and don't even think about stopping even if you are the only one in the room doing it.

I am like that with DGD. I just can't stop myself when I pick her up. Now she's a toddler and needs picking up less and less but i still can't help myself from sneaking a kiss while she's busy playing or when I catch her at the bottom of a slide, or blow a raspberry on her tummy when I change her. Soon enough they don't appreciate kisses or are embarrassed so do it while DS still likes it :).

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 06/04/2017 11:02

I still do it now and my son is five.

KazenoTaninoNaushika · 06/04/2017 11:17

If I say a certain combination of words I can get my 1yo to give me one of those open mouth baby slobbers and I do frequently, in public or not!

cheeseandpineapple · 06/04/2017 11:28

I'm so jealous, I miss the baby phase and being able to administer constant kisses. I try to make my two (teenager and soon to be teen) sit on my lap for what I call "baby time" so I can give them lots of kisses. They're at least as tall as me now and find it weird but indulge me out of pity Blush

To clarify, I mean they sit in my lap separately. Together at the same time, well that really would be weird Grin

Spudlet · 06/04/2017 11:39

DS has been trained that when I start making mwa-mwa-mwa noises, he leans in for a kiss on the forehead. It's adorable in my entirety biased opinion. And he only does it for me.

Make the most of it, as others have said!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/04/2017 11:42

I was like that with my dd. I couldn't stop kissing and chewing her up. Grin.
I'm the same with my nephew .
Oh I could eat him.

minifingerz · 06/04/2017 11:50

here

"Babies whose mothers shower them with affection are better at coping with stress when they grow up, researchers have said."

Keep kissing!

Toefluff12 · 06/04/2017 21:11

My lb is nearly 2 and I still kiss him constantly. He doesn't always give me a kiss when I ask for one but he kisses me loads when he wants to and hasn't learned to tell me to stop yet. Keep going, kiss away.

SoTheySentMeA · 06/04/2017 21:32

As pp have said, get them in while you can! My DS has begun to say no to them but he does find kisses comforting when he's tired so I think I've trained him well!

SoTheySentMeA · 06/04/2017 21:36

The people who are saying OP knows shes not being unreasonable - to be fair, it's actually an easy thing to find yourself wondering about. I have noticed that my cousins, whose DC's are of a similar age to DS, are far less kissy than I am and it does make you question if you are being a bit much. I've always found myself kissing DS far less when around them.

Funnyface1 · 06/04/2017 21:38

Yes my baby girl is 7 months and I kiss her all day long, mainly cheeks and head but even feet get in on it if it's changing time. I still kiss my 6 year old. I wonder how much longer he will let me? Sad

honeyharris · 06/04/2017 21:40

Used to do exactly the same and get funny looks. Now I wish I hadn't let it bother me. DS is nearly 3 and has started saying 'get away from me' when he's in a mood.

FairytalesAreBullshit · 06/04/2017 21:43

If you want to smother your baby in kisses, I can't see why it's an issue. Don't worry about others, that's the biggest parenting lesson, people will do things differently, have different expectations, want to brag about all sorts.

Your baby, your choices.

brickinitIam · 06/04/2017 21:46

Babies are so kissable, especially your own.
Keep kissing your baby. It's natural!

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 06/04/2017 21:47

My 20 mo now thinks it's hilarious to run away shouting, 'no kisses' every time I try and kiss him so I may have overdone it when he was tiny and couldn't run away!

ScoobyDoosTinklyLaugh · 06/04/2017 21:57

Funnily enough I noticed today in playgroup that I was the only one covering my toddler in kisses every 5 minutes. I didn't even think I was particularly affectionate.

DD kisses me back now and she kisses her baby doll and all her cuddly toys and makes over the top 'mwah' noises while she does it Grin

Pollaidh · 06/04/2017 21:59

Sure I saw some scientific research reported that showed that over-kissers actually have more secure babies. Kiss that baby :-)

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 06/04/2017 21:59

Hell no, I still kiss both DC whenever they are in my vicinity -they're 7 & 5.
