AIBU to have eaten the Easter eggs

I'm a massive chochaholic.
I'm also a massive bargain hunter.
But around Easter , these two parts of my ego come to a head.

I buy Easter eggs early when I can get the eggs I want to buy at the price I want to pay.

But it seems that I buy them early and end up eating them before easter. Every year.

Then having to replace them with either more expensive ones, or cheap rubbish chocolate ones by Ben 10 or Hello Kitty.

AIBU to do this every year ? Do others do this ?

This is clearly a false economy. Can you buy double the eggs you need when they're on offer or are you in denial of your chocoholism? Grin

(I just buy them last minute at the ridiculously inflated prices)

I can totally relate - every year I buy my dad a chocolate orange for Christmas (and other stuff!) and every year I eat it and have to buy another!

I agree it is a false economy. And I do believe I could buy the weight of the chocolate egg in a chocolate bar for a fraction of the price. But I do this every year. Some Iv hidden from DH, some I haven't Shock

Buying for family - kids mainly - which makes it worse Shock

I think I will have to get Dh to hide them, as although he has done the same, he has more will power than me. And he will only ever eat mine or his eggs before Easter and replace them, I will eat other peoples too.

Last year I had to buy the same person another egg, twice.

No you didn't have to, you chose to.

The same as you're choosing to buy yourself lots of Easter eggs before Easter.

That is what you're actually doing, so instead of feeling bad about it, just accept it and move on Confused

Far better to admit to yourself that you're buying them for you and that you'll be buying other people's/the kid's eggs nearer the time as usual.

There is no such thing as a 'chocoholic' either.

This is what I usually do OP. I could have written your post. This year I gave held out and not bought any atall except creme eggs which doesn't count.

Chocoholic is an informal noun to describe a person who has an extreme fondness for chocolate.
I agree, it's not actually a medical term, Worra Confused Grin

Six I must admit Easter Egg chocolate tastes far better than the same chocolate in bar form. Not sure why.

I am so glad that other people do this. Every year I feel like a massive failure because I've yet again eaten all the eggs I bought for cheap when the offers were on. Every year I say I won't eat them and again I can't bloody help myself.
I'm also feeling slightly bitter as I had to go and replace them all earlier and pay full price. £4 for a small egg and two creme eggs! It's a rip off!

I love chocolate and have trouble resisting it if it's in the house, but even I wouldn't eat Easter eggs I'd bought for other people! Get some willpower OP. Grin

Just admit to yourself that you are buying them for you. If you feel guilty about buying them and eating them wait until Easter Saturday.

I am not a "chocoholic" so the Easter egg I have bought DD is untouched.

I bought my daughter some Easter eggs ages ago. Completely forgot I had them in the cupboard, since I remembered I have them I've eaten two ConfusedBlush must remember to replace them!

YABU to say you are a massive bargain hunter if you eat the eggs, they are a total waste of money compared to the weight of chocolate you could have eaten for the same price, even when you get the eggs cheap

I would buy the eggs when they were cheap and stock up on cheap normal chocolate at the same time and eat away at that to your hearts content - more of a bargain and you don't have to buy more (more expensive) eggs, win win

Also, if I have earmarked something for someone else I feel it isn't mine so it doesn't feel like temptation is staring me in the face. I love Liquorice Allsorts for example, and when I bought a big box for OH for Christmas it was easy not to eat them because I didn't regard them as mine to eat.

There's something about the egg chocolate . And the temptation that it's NOT mine Blush oh dear I must be a head case.

I think, next year, I will get DH to buy all of them, even his own, and hide them somewhere, as this is a ridiculous thing to do Grin

Maybe it would help if you wrapped them up in gift wrap and fancy ribbon as soon as you bought them so they're less accessible? Confused
It's done now, so no point beating yourself up this year!

Does anyone know if the chocolate in Shitebury eggs is the same as in normal Dairy Milk?

DD got some eggs last year and they were so vile that we decided to melt the chocolate to make cornflake crispies. It was still vile.

I do this all the time and am as fat as a pig due to it...I would buy extra cheap ones too but I know I would eat them too
