Good luck with that, Donnie! I think you'll find that Clinton v Jones does apply.

I want to know why the president of China isn't staying at Maralago.

Pain the removal of the civil rights page. To me that means for the police... shoot first ask questions later... aren't there enough accidental murders by police... He's also banging on about Chicago again. The man is obsessed with Chicago. I bet the city loves being held up as the worst city in America on the WH.gov page.

On the clean coal nonsense. He held a press conference after, I could've punched the telly at him saying repeatedly "cleeeeeeean coal cleeeeeean coal" in a very annoying way. Agree on the repeating. He hasn't a bloody clue what he's talking about so keep emphasising and repeating and hope everyone takes it on board because of the repetition.

Haha. www.news.com.au/finance/work/leaders/we-dont-make-mistakes-trump-says-before-introducing-police-boss-by-wrong-name/news-story/dff3a582a176dac22d209393a02ebb11. He is a complete buffoon and a laughing stock round the world. Love the Aussie press sometimes, it hits where it hurts.

TheClaws · 29/03/2017 07:27

Interesting about the news.com.au article Rousette. That site is a feeder for Daily Telegraph pieces and other news items of that ilk - eg. Murdoch-owned media. The coverage on there has never been particularly good to Trump, but now it is starting to get prickly.

Lweji · 29/03/2017 07:57

Fox ratings may be up. But so are other news media.

And his approval ratings keep going down.
It's in my laptop but I was reading last night about the significance of this and how it's bad news across the different polls (likely voters and all) and the different groups (Reps, independents, etc)

Lweji · 29/03/2017 08:01

Trump could sign an executive order making everyone's name Ken or Barbie.

Roussette · 29/03/2017 08:06

That is interesting Claws. I do try and catch up with other countries views of this debacle, not just UK and US.

Everything is a knee jerk reaction with him isn't it... headline grabbing and photo opportunity. This debunks any myth whatsoever of bringing back jobs

If he is still President by the time of the next election, does he automatically get to be Republican candidate or does he need to be nominated as before?

OP posts:
MsHooliesCardigan · 29/03/2017 09:53

He can't be completely oblivious to the polls about his approval ratings. Do you think he just convinces himself they're fake? For someone so thin skinned whose raison d'etre is to be the bestest most popular President ever, they must sting a bit.

Dumdedumdedum · 29/03/2017 10:05

Yes, those pesky polls will have been yugely faked by Hillary Clinton, in TrumpWorld. They're alternative facts, just like the yuge numbers of people at his inauguration.

lionheart · 29/03/2017 10:34

I think there are parts of his brain that are, for god knows what reason, too clouded to accept the realities he does not like. Instead, he gets fixated on the things he does like and can understand. In this respect, the repetition is not just about simple propaganda but also points to the limited nature of his comprehension and engagement. Sad

I am rather heartened by Amy Siskind and others who keep fighting, keep watching, keep resisting. Smile

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 29/03/2017 10:40

There was talk earlier of how Russia might have influenced Brexit. I wouldn't find it hard to believe if it came out that they used bots and misinformation on news sites to sway the country leaving aside the more explicit false claims plastered on the sides of buses.

Have there been any more developments on that? Farage is best pals with Trump and Brexit and the US election results were unexpected events in 2016 - both ultimatey leading two main players of Western influence to back away from coalitions such as the EU and NATO, which Russia is probably very pleased about. I can't find any information on this and it is all supposition but on such a momentous day, I can't help but feel we've been manipulated into this.

cozietoesie · 29/03/2017 11:20

A PP - forgive that I forget exactly whom - pointed out the irony of eyes now being on Russia. I think that's right - they may be generally pleased but they're also now in unknown territory. As are the WH. I agree with Siskind - things are actually moving with lightning speed as US presidential politics go. All the .......iced tea in the world isn't going to help Bannon et al over the next couple of months. Wink

As for China? It doesn't surprise me at all that - Xi was it? - isn't staying at Mar a Lago. At least, not if you read the editorial about the One China policy in that 'proudly independent' newspaper, the China Daily' - wholly unconnected with the Chinese government of course. Grin They're just sitting on that ole river bank...................

CaveMum · 29/03/2017 11:54

If he is still President by the time of the next election, does he automatically get to be Republican candidate or does he need to be nominated as before?

Technically a sitting President will usually get the nomination of their party, but in theory there is nothing to stop another Republican challenging him for the nomination. I'm not sure if this would have to happen before the Convention (to allow people to vote) or if it happens during the convention when only the Republican delegates will get to vote.

cozietoesie · 29/03/2017 11:56

Oh - and I do hope that 45 watches his markets over the next week. Wink
