My son is hilarious . . . and he loves me this much!

DS 1 (early 20s) had clearly overlooked Mother's Day not for the first time but fortunately his girlfriend gave him a nudge. So he made a card for me . . .

In fact, he typed it on an old-fashioned typewriter. The front cover of the folded A4 piece of paper stated: "You are my mother."

On the inside it read: "Your gift is having a son like me."

A few spaces down and then (not lined up!): "You're welcome." Smile

He had "wrapped" it in an old cardboard box that the cat is now sleeping in.

I haven't laughed so much for a long time. However, quality-wise it doesn't quite match DS2's effort of a couple of years ago when he was about 10 years old. In cartoon style, he'd made a 3-2-1 card that started with a hand-drawn picture of a normal-ish looking chicken and ended with an exploding chicken.

I feel so blessed to have two sons who love me so much Wink

I bet nobody has received such personalised cards as me!!!

Aah, mine are more boring now they're teenagers, my favourite card was from ds2 when he was 5/6....it said 'I love you mummy cos you give me corn' with a picture of corn on the cobGrin

Thank you time. As an atheist I identify more strongly with the US concept, though my mum would find it odd if I didn't mark the occasion on the UK date.

Dd(6) wrote a 'fact file' about me today. Along with lots of lovely things, she wrote 'not much' under the 'style' heading. It cracked me up.

AllllGooone · 26/03/2017 20:35

Grin I must admit, the card made me laugh so much! Best poem ever.

BackforGood · 26/03/2017 21:32

This year ds1(14) gave me a card with Happy Mothers Day with a box containing the words 'Insert diagram here' Grin

Ds2(10) gave me a hand drawn laughing cat - he says he can't draw but he can.

FataliePorkman · 27/03/2017 02:18

My 3 woke me up this morning with a card, some flowers picked from my Mums garden and a bag of chocolate buttons (my fave!)

I went to get them out of my bag earlier, couldn't find them and found the packet on DS's floor when I went to kiss him before bed. I did have a good old chuckle to myself. 😁

MrsMeow · 27/03/2017 02:22

My DS (13) wrote "some say that you're the definition of cool..."

(and apparently super cool)

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 27/03/2017 02:52

These are priceless. Nothing of my own to share because Cdn mothers day is like the American one, in May. You guys have set the bar high though!

meddie · 27/03/2017 02:59

One year I got a card off Ds with a sad faced rabbit on the front saying 'thinking of you' inside it said 'at your time of loss' He hadnt noticed it was a sympathy card and just thought 'thinking of you' was a nice sentiment.
I kept it. Still makes me laugh

BaxterStockboy · 27/03/2017 06:30

DS aged 5 made a lovely card at school. He had drawn hearts on the front, lots of glitter etc. I opened it to read the message inside 'Happy muffs day' Grin

LucyFuckingPevensie · 27/03/2017 06:39

One of my Dts wrote me a poem.

My fantastic Mum
As funny as a clown
As sweet as a bright yellow daffodil
As helpful as a serpent (we think he meant servent)
As warm as a teddy
My fantastic Mum.

This thread has just reminded me of a little boy in a class where I was TA, year 1. It was week before Mothers Day and we were going to start making the cards. Teachers got whole class sitting on the carpet for carpet time and she's asking them what they can write in their cards, so little loves are putting hands up and saying my mum looks after me, my mum makes my favourite cakes, my mum takes me to the park etc......... Teacher notices little lad looking out of the window day dreaming, so she says and what about you 'johnny' what are you going to write in your card? And he looks at her blankly, the seconds pass, so I try and prompt him to help him out, so I say why do you love your mummy? Ummmm he says I dunno, teacher then says well then what does your mummy do for you???? He shuffles around a bit and frowns as he's having a serious think. The seconds tick by, so teacher says again come on johnny what does your mummy do? Then ping you could actually see the light bulb go off in his head and he announced loud and proud........MY MUMMY SITS ON HER FAT ARSE ALL DAY!!!!!!!! Teacher and I both had a -laughing- coughing fit while he sat there looking so proud, and no he didn't write it in his card apparently that's what his dad says to his mum when He comes home from work and Johnny obviously didn't realise what he was actually saying! Out of the mouth of babes 😂

NorksAreMessy · 27/03/2017 07:08

20 year old DS sent me not flowers, not chocolates....but a packet of Japanese seaweed wafers, because I absolutely love them and can't get them anywhere near home.

thereisabetterway · 27/03/2017 07:43

baby - Daniel has artistic skill! Great food blender and excellent King Charles spaniel . . . but there is nothing "miniature" about the Schnauzer!

Mother - "Insert diagram here". I love it! He could be on to some new marketing winner there.

meddie - he'll never live that down but thank you for making me laugh too.

Thank you, everyone, for sharing - our DC are certainly . . . errr . . . what's the word? Imaginative? Anyway personally speaking I'd rather have one of these than a sloppy, mass-produced card any day.
