Chrisinthemorning · 25/03/2017 18:01

I'm hoping for a bottle of Warner's Rhubarb gin. Gin

elQuintoConyo · 25/03/2017 18:04

Isn't is just steak flowers and cunnilingus day?

elQuintoConyo · 25/03/2017 18:04

(From DH obvs Blush)

APlaceOnTheCouch · 25/03/2017 18:04

upper yy that's what I thought too. DS would eat one of the slices of toast and ask for a cake for later. Dh would take the smoothie. It's a sociable breakfast tray Grin

MissGoggins · 25/03/2017 18:11

Jesus elQuintoConyo Hmm

I'm having a cake made for me as I speak and I have to act like I have no idea what they are doing in there!

Lynnm63 · 25/03/2017 18:17

I will get chocolates and strawberries, my dd will have made me a card at school, the boys may have bought one but will probably have bribed their sister to put their names on hers, a bacon sandwich and coffee in bed. I won't have cooked any of it, it'll be bliss.

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2017 18:17

I had no idea there were rules and regulations and even a calorie limit for Mothers Day gifts. Shock Is there a leaflet I could download detailing it all?

BarbaraofSeville · 25/03/2017 18:18

Oh FGS it's just laid out to look pretty. It won't spontaneously combust if it's not eaten in the same sitting.

I don't even like breakfast in bed or croissants - I can't get comfortable to eat it. Even tea - on the odd occasion I've been offered it, I usually refuse.

specialsubject · 25/03/2017 18:18

Smoothie - yuk, no ta. I have teeth and don't eat baby food.

Egg on toast, lovely. Sugar cakes, no. Chocs - yes although not at breakfast.

SootSprite · 25/03/2017 18:19

I bought a pavlova for tomorrow and dd saw me putting it into freezer earlier this week. Convo went like this

Dd what's that?
Me pavlova. Don't worry, I know you don't like it, it's for me, on Sunday.
Dd what's Sunday?
Me Mother's Day
Dd oh......I didn't know
Me Don't worry, daddy's got it covered
😂

By 'Daddy's got it covered' I do, of course, mean that he's bought a card and the gift I told him to buy indicated I was interested in

ghostyslovesheets · 25/03/2017 18:22

you know my DD3 often brings me half cooked toast with bits of butter on, grapes, apple juice and a wildlife yogurt in the morning - on a tray - with a very proud look on her face - I try and eat as much as possible because it means a lot to her

so I think if mine gave me that on MD I'd at least act chuffed

sadly they aren't here so I'm having a lie in then going for a run - might have some chocs later

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2017 18:25

I think the Lidl thing is just an advert giving examples of some of the stuff Lidl sell which you could buy for Mothers Day. You don't need to get it all.

If you are really worried get a salad giftwrapped.

I've just been into the bathroom I was told not to go in
Lovely flowers. From the florist not the supermarket 😄💐😃💐

LagunaBubbles · 25/03/2017 18:41

Really? It seems like such a huge amount of food and sugar, I would feel sick after eating that

Well arent you the superior person then eh?! Hmm

Owllady · 25/03/2017 18:44

I don't know if it's just suggesting it to me, but I found Morrison's mother's day selection using, especially the fenjal and stain remover :o

AMUSING!
Now it's showing a big pack of John Smith's bitter
Lol

HemanOrSheRa · 25/03/2017 19:15

I had no idea there were rules and regulations and even a calorie limit for Mothers Day gifts. Is there a leaflet I could download detailing it all? There must be somewhere Sparkling give it to your children so they can completely ignore it and show their love for you in their own way Smile.

winewolfhowls · 25/03/2017 19:37

The brooch idea upthread sounds lovely.

jennielou75 · 25/03/2017 19:48

Oh we had some lovely thoughts that should bring tears tomorrow like yellow is the sunshine you bring into my life, green is for the nature you encourage me to run through.....all their own ideas but they are a lovely bunch!

elQuintoConyo · 25/03/2017 20:01

MissGoggins that was just a play on the godawful 'steak and a BJ day' men (some, on fb) dream of.

I would never wish for nor expect anything so crass.

MissGoggins · 25/03/2017 20:40

I've never heard of that! For Father's Day? Yuck. Confused

I want a lie in.

RiversrunWoodville · 25/03/2017 21:57

Usually DH reluctantly picks up a card for dds and dd1 picks out some flowers (dd2 has only turned 2) but this year dd1 has actually made her own card in school (different from her friends they all made own ideas rather than copied one for whole class). Even though she's in P3 she's being tested for SN and I can see how much effort she put into it writing different words to describe me under petals of a flower and writing the inside herself neatly. I almost cried I'm so proud of her

80sMum · 25/03/2017 22:04

Gosh, I agree OP! That's an awful lot of food. I couldn't possibly eat all that in one go. Three cakes! And a croissant! And two slices of bread with eggs! And what looks like about a pint of yogurt in that smoothie! Who could eat all that, especially for breakfast? One slice of toast and a black coffee is more in my line.

I assume that the chocolates are not also intended to be eaten for breakfast!
