Tractors, cyclists, learner drivers, old doddery drivers, trailers, farm traffic, and generally slow ass people driving half the speed limit from being on the roads during rush hour?

This morning on my way to an important meeting miles away (that I don't have the option of leaving any earlier for due to childcare) a tractor stays in front of me and 30 odd other cars for over 20 miles, going 28mph and not pulling in.

Driving home there is a lane closed on the dual carriageway and I'm stuck behind a car going 30mph for several miles creating a huge tailback.

Then on the school run where I only have fifteen minutes to drive five miles due to work, I am behind a learner again making me late.

Don't even get me started on those who think the national speed limit is 40. Which appears to be 75% of drivers. Or people who drive REALLLLLLY slowly when the traffic lights turn green and I then have to wait again as they've turned red.

This is my life on a daily basis, it's driving me insane. I am late for everything all of the time and I don't have the option to leave earlier with the school run/work. Angry

I am unable to drive for medical reasons, my office has no parking and the public transport is terrible here.

So I have to cycle. Piss off OP.

Is it the OP's fault you have a medical condition?
Is it the OP's fault your office has no parking?
Is it the OP's fault that the public transport is terrible?

Hmm Its not is it, so how about you piss off!!

OP - if you have 15 minutes to drive 5 miles (very important school run I am sure) you only need to drive at 20mph (correct my maths if it is wrong Hmm) to be able to do it so unless you were really really inconvenienced by everyone driving at < 20 mph you should be able to do it. Not to mention your post was slightly ageist.

Suggest you allow extra time at the school run time of day - it would make sense.

Haven't read responses but I have thought this for a long time. It is a real pet peeve of mine.

Just tractors and farm equipment though

The school run is a stupid name, as no one is going anywhere by running and actually running would often be faster than driving in most cases.

You sound massively intolerant of every other type of road-user and that can be dangerous.

It's no-one else's fault or problem that you can't leave earlier in the morning and are therefore persistently late, but then rush, rush, rushing to make up the time will only make you even less observant on the road and being less observant on the road could kill someone.

You don't like motorcyclists either (amongst every other type of road user you've taken a dislike to)? What, apart from the ones which may one day be useful to you, such as Police bikes, Blood bikes, Paramedic bikes to name a few? I guess they are acceptable because they are useful to you but how do you think those of us that ride those bikes learned and keep our training up to date if not by riding our own bikes on the road?

Believe me, those riders who are "nonchalant" about the risks (as opposed to riding confidently and defensively) tend to die young (unlike car drivers who are nonchalant about the risks, who tend to kill more vulnerable road users). On the other hand, a good many very skilled advanced trained riders are also killed on the roads at the hands of car drivers who were in too much of a rush to look properly.

YABVU. Plan your journey better and if you can't, don't blame others.
