To think obesity rates will rocket with brexit

cheesyinkent · 24/03/2017 15:25

Currently 2/3rd of adults are overweight or obese. But in my life the immigrants I meet are often a healthy weight. Now many are moving back and they won't be replaced could we see rates go up massively? My friend that works up north in a gym thinks 90% are overweight in the local area.

when you read that a size 14 is an acceptable size...
(unless you are extremely tall, obviously)

Ontopofthesunset · 24/03/2017 16:48

I thought this would be about the price of imported fruit, veg and fish etc going up so we would all be forced to rely on cheap junk food made here from Borsetshire scratchings.

Are lots of 'immigrants' thin? Do you think they're less thin if they're less recent immigrants?

ThePinkOcelot · 24/03/2017 16:50

WTF?! Are you serious?!

HalfShellHero · 24/03/2017 16:52

Nah everyone will be starving with more expensive food..

DrunctioningFunk · 24/03/2017 16:54

Huh?

BakeOffBiscuits · 24/03/2017 16:57

You can't argue with stupid.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 24/03/2017 17:01

Halfshell which explains the skinny Swiss.

When a small chicken is £15 you really go Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall on that Bantams arse and wring it out for two weeks.

springflowers11 · 24/03/2017 17:01

It's a wind up!
3/10 OP!!

MongerTruffle · 24/03/2017 17:02

Now many are moving back

How many is "many"?

tillytown · 24/03/2017 17:03

What the actual fuck?

Factorysettings · 24/03/2017 17:05

Well if food inflation means that we are all going to starve, then us forward-thinking Northeners did well to acquire a good store of energy while the chips were cheap and you quinoa eating Southerners will be the first to perish.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 24/03/2017 17:10

Factorysettings I would say that I think I luvs you a bit, but as you're a well 'ard northerner i fear you'd smack me one.

TheoriginalLEM · 24/03/2017 17:13

what a peculiar train of thought

Factorysettings · 24/03/2017 17:20

Aw Grin thanks lemonade, there's always room on the lardy Northern bench for a fan.

Honestly though, the hysteria on both sides of this debate make the conditions for reasonable debate impossible and what we are left with resembles a Monty Python sketch.

Factorysettings · 24/03/2017 17:22

When the world gives you lemon pledge autocorrect gives you lemonade.

Stripyhoglets · 24/03/2017 17:31

No everyone will be skinny once they've been working at their new career of picking cabbages in Lincolnshire once the EU workers go home!

user1484578224 · 24/03/2017 17:36

how many tubbies are moving and how many is a lot

Fluffyears · 24/03/2017 17:49

lemonpledge did you get the scaffolding put up by a manual working migrant? Were they all skinny?

ilovesooty · 24/03/2017 17:55

Best use of the hormones excuse I've seen for a long time.
I find myself wondering why some people feel compelled to give voice to these ridiculous notions.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 24/03/2017 18:01

Yes they were...

BBCNewsRave · 24/03/2017 18:37

How many immigrants are leaving? Enough to make a dint in house prices? Which would counterbalance the increase in food prices. Although all that manual work, plus having to walk everywhere and being unable to heat our homes (may be confusing theories here), means we should be thinner. Hmm.

Btw are people not aware that immigrants do more jobs that just manual veg picking type ones? Hmm

ps. I live in the North and the immigrants are as lardy (or otherwise) as everyone else. I don't work in a gym though.

paddypants13 · 24/03/2017 18:43

Factory - thank goodness you came on to make that point, I've only being trying to loose weight! Now I see my lard may be my salvation. Grin

cheesyinkent · 25/03/2017 12:25

I thought this would be about the price of imported fruit, veg and fish etc going up so we would all be forced to rely on cheap junk food made here from Borsetshire scratchings.

Thanks, I think youve also hit on a very important point. The weather is cold in the UK and most food is imported. If that goes up then people will just eat more stodge! I didn't realise this theory would go so deep

Think somebody was dropped to their head as a baby.

Brexit will make us fatter lol, now I have heard everything. Here was me thinking we would all starve to death because the cost of food would skyrocket.

A Pizza Hut, a Pizza Hut
Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut

McDonald's, McDonald's

ForalltheSaints · 25/03/2017 12:45

I think that if poverty increases as a result of Tory policies and Brexit, it may affect the number of people overweight.
