Where are the condolence messages from the Royal Family?

It's exactly this situation that we need the Royal Family to make a statement. I've looked, but I can't find any messages of condolence from them. The only reference I can find is when The Queen sent a message to the Head of the London Met saying that she wasn't turning up today. And then she eventually says "Sorry to hear about the attacks." - or similar.

Where is the message to those other people who died? Nothing from Charles, or William or anyone else.

I used to be a staunch Royalist but I've changed my mind now. If the Royal Family can't even send out some tweets saying "Condolences to the families of those who died or were injured" then what the bloody hell are they here for?

Am happy to BU and for someone to prove me wrong.

OP posts:

What the fuck is wrong with some of you

There are some really shitty attitudes followimg this attack

GabsAlot · 23/03/2017 23:50

why are they here lol

well theyre not here to tweet thats for sure

RortyCrankle · 23/03/2017 23:56

Not that it's any of your business OP, but how do you know private messages have not been sent from various members of the Royal Family?

CalmItKermitt · 23/03/2017 23:56

What do you want? The Queen vaguebooking?

HMQ: "One is having difficulty believing the events of today. Worst day ever".

Prince Charles: "Gosh mama, whort's gorn orn??"

HMQ: "I'll PM you".

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 23/03/2017 23:58

You would seriously change your entire stance on the monarchy based on them supposedly not making a statement?! Hmm

How odd.

As has been pointed out, the Queen did make a statement. Personally I would consider it a bit unnecessary for each of them to make their own statement. One can easily imagine how they might feel, and a dignified silence is much better than all the people rushing to use the attack to further their own agenda.

thatdearoctopus · 23/03/2017 23:59

Centuries of the royal institution underpinning our society and let's blow it all to smithereens because the Queen doesn't tweet.

PotteringAlong · 24/03/2017 00:01

The dutchess of Cambridge made a statement when she was at her official engagement today - it was on the BBC news thingy this morning

LarkDescending · 24/03/2017 00:57

Someone I know who was bereaved in the 7/7 bombings was very touched by the thoughtful personal letters she received from senior Royals at the time. I must remember to point out to her that such messages of condolence are entirely worthless if not broadcast to the world in a Twitter soundbite.

emmyhNL · 24/03/2017 06:39

Same as Lark. A friend affected by 7/7 attack received personal letters from the royals. It wasn't promoted or publicised but was heartfelt.

FuckeryOmbudsman · 24/03/2017 06:47

Where did you look?

Statements made well, before you posted this thread, readily available online via news websites or the Royal website.

And yes, there 's an official royal family twitter feed and that tweeted a link to the statement yesterday morning.

I doubt OP looked at all - so really wondering why this thread was posted.

WateryTart · 24/03/2017 07:06

I'm bewildered that anyone could think about this after what happened. Very odd.

coconuttella · 24/03/2017 07:10

The day HM Queen tweets is the day the monarchy dies....

coconuttella · 24/03/2017 07:17

Also, terrible as the attack was, and utterly devastating for the families involved, it wasn't a 9/11 or even 7/7, scale attack that devastated a city, so any response is proportionate to that... A televised address from the Queen to the nation speaking to a country in grief isn't really appropriate.

megletthesecond · 24/03/2017 07:22

One assumes they'll be putting pen to paper and not messing about with social media.

P1nkP0ppy · 24/03/2017 07:27

If this is all you have to worry about op............. ☹️

TheNaze73 · 24/03/2017 07:29

Some people clearly get off, on focusing on the wrong things.
Shameful post

SexTrainGlue · 24/03/2017 07:32

Disagree pinkpoppy

I think I"d be very concerned if my ability to find information online was that low. But I think there are various courses around which might help - worth an enquiry at your local library (I would suggest looking online, but that wouldn't be helpful for someone who doesn't know how to search!) or sending off for that free Which? guide.

That's our experience too.

WatchHowISoar · 24/03/2017 07:44

Tweeting? The only reason someone would want tweets is they can retweet themselves for attention. Didn't even cross my mind about the royal family, far better would be messages from the perpetrators family which condone the attacks and send condolences.

Spadequeen · 24/03/2017 07:45

I would say an idiot rather than a goady. fucker!

mateysmum · 24/03/2017 07:52

OP your post has to be one of the most ridiculous I have ever seen. This whole idea that emotion isn't real unless it's shared on social media. That showing you care is the same as telling the world on twitter.

The Queen is the head of state. She speaks for the nation and the royal family. It would be ridiculous for every member of her family to put out individual messages every time an unfortunate event happens. This idea all started around the time of Diana's death, before the age of twitter, when the Queen was vilified for not rending her garments and tearing her hair on the pavement outside Buck House, when you know what she was actually doing the callous woman was caring for her grandsons, those poor, devastated boys. Yet the public demanded they be paraded on the streets to show their grief.

The Queen is not some C list celebrity; she is a 90'ish year old lady and the head of state. Leave the tweeting to the Kardashians.

It's NOT a funny subject, but this did made me :)

Megatherium · 24/03/2017 07:55

The Queen is the head of the Royal family, it is appropriate that condolences come from her. Where does it stop? If it becomes the rule that Clarence House and Kensington Palace must routinely produce something, you will only get people like OP moaning that that other branches of the family haven't joined in.

I''d referred to the Queen's message already

No, you didn't. You claimed that all she had said was "Sorry to hear about the attacks - or similar." Given that you had obviously read her actual statement, which went well beyond that, your claim was actively misleading.

I for one am delighted that they didn't leap on to Twitter. It has a way of making things like condolences sound incredibly trite and meaningless.

Nakedavenger74 · 24/03/2017 08:01

Good lord who cares whether the queen makes a statement or not? Why does sorrow need to be made as public as possible these days? We all know it's awful why do you need approval?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 24/03/2017 08:13

I would say an idiot rather than a goady. fucker!

Although what with this and the 'why didn't the PM make a statement' quicker thread, you do have to wonder..
