Why is it ok for a convicted rapist to be moved to a women only prison because they are transgender? It's a total lack of respect for women that have been subjected to rape.

Where would you jail a woman who committed sexual assaults against other women?

Posters can keep complaining about MN being transphobic. But These threads keep popping up because lots of women are frankly fed up with what is happening. We are being erased. You cannot put a rapist in a women's prison. It is dangerous.

The women are prisoners but they don't deserve to be locked up with a rapist, this is so wrong. This man is a rapist and he is now housed with women, how can anyone defend that.

Where do you think they put lesbian sex offenders?

Is it the fact that this person had a penis that offends or the fact that they are a sex offender?

Report
Theiggorcist · 21/03/2017 20:53

But lesbians can't legally rape, can they? So it's not the same.

loubylous This person is transgender who has completed treatment. That means they do not have male genitals or the level of testosterone that the typical male has.

So yes. Put them in prison with people who have the same genitals.

Prisons are sex segregated cd, a woman could not rape another woman as she doesn't have a penis. 98% of sexual violence is committed by males. Women have the right to be safe. I am going to say that again as some people seem to be confused by this, women have the right to be safe.

They're not the same genitals. Surgery is not that advanced yet.

I noticed that as well, there does seem to be a common thread that many of the transgender inmates are rapists or murderers, not shoplifters or suchlike

The point about lesbian sex offenders. Am I understanding being presented here as: female sex offender who is a lesbian and has committed a sexual offence against a woman goes to women's prison. Therefore it is unproblematic that a biologically male sex offender who identifies as a woman and has committed sexual assault against a woman also goes to a women's prison. Is that it?

Report
VestalVirgin · 21/03/2017 20:56

If you commit a crime with your genitals, then it stands to reason that you go to the prison with people who have the same genitalia as you. Regardless of your gender.

Why only if you commit a crime with your genitals?

Most violent male criminals use their male muscle mass and bone structure to commit their crimes.

So yes. Put them in prison with people who have the same genitals.

I am pleased we finally understand each other and you are now in a favour of a separate prison wing of the men's prison that is reserved for transwomen, who have the same genitals, i.e. surgically changed male genitals.

theiggorcist I didn't say that lesbians rape. I said sex offender.

The person concerned cannot commit another rape. They do not have a penis.

What worries me is that quote of the rapist saying other women are threatening to self harm to escape having to be locked up in a cell with them because they're uncomfortable with the rapist's 'sexuality'.

Wtf does the rapist think their sexuality has to do with it? Not identity, not self identified gender, but phrasing it themselves as this being their sexuality. Transgender has nothing to do with sexuality and sexual preferences. If the rapist thinks their sexual preferences must be accepted by women in this context then they're surely describing that they have autogynephilia rather than being Transgender. In which case there's even less possible excuse for them being handed women unable to escape to enact their personal sexual fantasies on.

Women in prison are vulnerable in the main. I see no reason they should have to put up with this rapist of young girls in their midst.

If it is ok for this rapist to not want to be in prison with men, why should women prisoners have to put up with being housed with a man?

I cannot get over the fact that this rapist has accessed a sex change operation on the NHS whilst in prison for his crime.

Women make up 2% of those committing sex crime. So highly unlikely anyone female would end up being housed with a lesbian rapist. Women cannot legally be charged with rape anyway.

Iris65 · 21/03/2017 20:59

VV they probably will be on a separate wing along with other sex offenders; those who have hurt children; those who have been bullied or are otherwise vulnerable. Male prisons also have the same type of wing for similar prisoners.

Someone with extreme body dismorphia is surely terribly unlikely to have used their penis to rape someone? So this is a case of AGP. Which makes the situation all the worse.

He is getting his kicks from 'identifying' as female and now he gets to validate himself inside a women's prison. Ug

Wtf does the rapist think their sexuality has to do with it?

Oh, well, I admit I would feel safer with a rapist who only ever raped men.
Not safe enough to actually want to share a cell with him, but if I had to choose between a heterosexual rapist and a gay rapist, well ...

Or does he consider being a rapist his sexuality? Confused

I was horrified when i heard this. He/she committed a serious crime against women (as a man) and is now in a woman's prison! As the quote in the article says, s/he may have changed to a woman, but his/her brain is the same.

Not many transgender people in society and even fewer in prison. So as you say humphreycobblers a woman prisoner is highly unlikely to be in a jail or in a cell with one.

Women should never be locked up with men. That's the point. Of course there are some nasty female offenders. And, yes, some female sex offenders (far fewer than male sex offenders though). They should go to a prison with other females.

Report
Charley50 · 21/03/2017 21:03

It almost seems like they have engineered the whole transition transgender thing so that they can go and continue terrorising women.

Female sex offenders are not all that common. So how strange is it that a man who is a sex offender actually felt like they were a woman all along? How odd. If I was a man who 'felt like' a woman, would I go around raping them? It doesn't make sense to me.
Anyway; when they committed the crime they were men, so let them serve their sentence in a male prison.

Well, yes, male prisons do have this type of wing. Where he should be put.
Why do you feel a need to mention this? Did you mean to type "female prisons"?

I am not actually sure women's prisons have an extra wing for sex offenders, it'd be empty most of the time.
