Ds has a bit of a nasty cough so have gave him the medicine we were given by pharmacy. It's his night to go to his dads so told ex I would send medicine in. He replied he will just get him medicine. I insisted he takes what he has been used to. Been made to feel iabu am I?

VestalVirgin, this isn't a question of a different country. There are no pharmacological agents commonly used in cough medicine that are efficacious at all.

Low dose morphine will of course suppress a chronic cough, but I doubt that's what the OP meant.

If any pharmacist in any country is selling codeine/morphine (the only cough medicine which does anything), I'd be very concerned.

It's a sweet syrup. You two need to learn to co parent better if you argue over a sweet syrup placebo.
