He had a night out last night, one of his friends who isn't in he country often had come over so he went out. He has work tomorrow and he tried to get out of the night out but the friend was insistent (I know this is true). Anyway he rolled in about an hour ago (fine) but woke me up slamming doors and then I woke up to the sound of him being sick all over our bedroom carpet.

It's all over the carpet and he's blocked the bathroom sink and he's do drunk I could barely wake him as he was vomiting everywhere. I've obviously had to get up and get on my hands and knees and clean the sick up he has barely an idea of where he's at its revolting.

I've spent about 40 mins cleaning when I should have been asleep. I've finally finished and he's got back into bed and has asked why I won't join him - I don't want to smell sick as I'm sleeping and even though I've cleaned the carpet he needs a shower.

Had this happened to anyone else? He is usually such a great partner just can't handle his drink at all and he has to be at work early tomorrow so now I'm worried I'll have to force him out of bed in a couple of hours and not sure what state he will be in.

Has anyone heard of 'duvet days' aparently some jobs in USA give you 3days that you can ringing up and take as duvet days, perfect for this sort of scenario. Obviously this wouldn't happen if your job was a doctor or something

Or actually thinking about it, as he has an important meeting today I think the taking a duvet day would go down too well.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 15/03/2017 08:19

Caspo it's a great idea but it's also mostly because most companies in the USA only have about 10 vacation days so it's a small perk to balance it out. They also don't do statutory sick in the same way either.

CaspoFungin · 15/03/2017 13:13

Yeah I want this duvet days in addition to my generous annual leave, sick pay and maternity pay Grin. I was shocked when I found out about maternity leave in the USA, 6 weeks unpaid I think you get.

My husband did this once in our 20 year together. To be honest I was just relived he hadn't choked while he was asleep although it wasn't nice cleaning up vomit with my barehands int he middle of the night. He was very ashamed the next day and luckily it wasn't a work day. No way he could have worked after that night!

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/03/2017 17:04

so how was work today then for him?

Faez · 15/03/2017 17:11

If I'd been that drunk I'd still be massively suffering today. Hope it went OK.

emmyhNL · 16/03/2017 07:20

Any update OP? What did his colleagues say? Did he apologise to you for making you clean up his sick?

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 16/03/2017 07:44

Hope he did a good job on the carpet!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2017 12:36

@deshi - what happened the next day /cleaning up etc

SuperFlyHigh · 17/03/2017 12:42

Blondes it looks like OP wants (understandably!) to forget about this.

I'm still a bit Shock that a 34 year old man in a new job bows down to pressure to friend visiting from overseas and gets paralytic. Can't even say ok 4 beers and I'm done!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2017 13:48

JUst bugs me when people don't update bored waiting for bubs to arrive :)

BUt yes agree a grown man should be capable of saying no to going out or have couple of beers and go into soft drinks esp if knows has a huge presentation the next day and on trial

GrumpyOldBag · 17/03/2017 16:54

Blondes do you think the OP posted this just for your entertainment?

Charley50 · 17/03/2017 17:00

We need closure. Grin

SuperFlyHigh · 17/03/2017 19:02

Blondes when you mentioned "on trial" for a brief moment there I thought OP's DH was "on trial" in court... Oops!

Meekonsandwich · 17/03/2017 20:02

Haha maybe I'm just harsh, but I wouldn't have cleaned the sick up, I would have gone down stairs and slept on the sofa and left the scene for him to enjoy in the morning and clean his damn self!! If that means a stained carpet it means him hiring a carpet cleaner or a new carpet from him. As for work, hes a big boy. He can face up to it or call in sick and face the consequences tomorrow. Why would you go out drinking if you have an important meeting the day after???

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2017 20:44

WE do need closure. Happens a lot. Op's don't come back and update

Have baby brain and couldn't think of the word when I said on trial - meant his probation in company

Hopefully he went in wed. Grovelled and company fine with him
