Is it a cult?

What the hell is it?

Someone "normal" on my FB is evangelical about it like they have been totally brainwashed.

Is it really this amazing "opportunity" and "dream" or is it a load of old bollocks - it's just overpriced mascara isn't it?

All the stuff I pay for with an actual job, without having to sell 1,147 mascaras a day

Precisely. And the rubbish they spout about having all this spare time and being at the home with the kids. Really, well it appears to me that they're just on fb all day posting 'inspirational' quotes, videos of applying make-up and various other selfies. I, for one, wouldn't exactly class spending all day on social media as spending time with your children. Far from it!

QueenofallIsee · 13/03/2017 21:40

I have 2. One has gone from Aloe Vera to Tree Life World? Now she is something called Jouve. She is forever posting that she is 'free and living the lifestyle of her choice' 'buzzing' 'beyond excited about her new business opportunity' She works in Tesco. Nowt wrong with that but how can that be 'free'? She made me v cross when I saw that her teenage children had been signed up, I mean really.

Bot 2 I feel a bit sorry for, she is a Younique bot and is just the sort of person these folks target - single Mum, limited earning potential in current job. It's all a bit desperate really

Crowdblundering · 13/03/2017 21:40

Mine is a single mum Sad

I worked out that if I got all my mascara stock for free, I would need to sell more than 1,000 per year to justify giving up my job.

But they would never get 100% of the cost, although no one has ever "pm me hunned" so I don't have the low down on it.

Still, selling (AND often delivering) 2-3 mascaras a day from my own client base (Facebook friends) would be soul destroying.

Crowdblundering · 13/03/2017 21:46

Yeah - I would rather work in Boots!

I know, the two Younique reps on my Facebook, make themselves look like tarts with that heavy make up on, and the never ending make up selfies. I suppose it's like the modern version of Tupperwear, which some of our mums did in the 70s/80s.

Framboise18 · 13/03/2017 21:54

I brought a foundation and mascara... I think you could pick better in a pound shop..

Pebbles1989 · 13/03/2017 22:00

On a darker note, they target vulnerable people. New mums are a classic example. A FB friend acquaintance of mine is a very young, very vulnerable divorcée with little eduction and even fewer job prospects (as things currently stand). I dread to think how much money she has wasted on this Younique crap when she could have been studying or working to make a better life for herself! Angry

When another MLM visited my workplace, I made an official complaint to management and sent them links to exposés of MLMs. I'm very pleased to report that that particular MLM is no longer welcome at work Grin and I will rinse and repeat for any others that turn up.

It is important to speak out against this because many people simply don't know the truth about MLMs.

Aeroflotgirl · 13/03/2017 22:05

I see posts of, Oooh so happy my treats have come. This expensive bunch of make up. Give me a cake any day 😋😋😋😋

Juice plus.......I bloody fell for it. Sensible, overweight and 40. Medically qualified. Hook line and sinker. Fuckers .

BusterTheBulldog · 13/03/2017 23:16

My younique bot does 'makeovers'. They are honestly laughable, like a child trying their mum's makeup! I can't believe she flogs anything off the back of them, let alone recruits more!

madein1995 · 13/03/2017 23:18

It's so annoying - its just make up and the hype is silly. Its made out to be something special and thats what annoys me. Not to mention all the 'its hard work but worth it' shite, as if that is hard work Hmm the videos of applying make up gets on my tits too, as does the befkre and after pics. Yes lots of women look good in make up, younique is no better, and yeah foundation covers birthmarks or bags under eyes - so what, all foundation does

Glossolalia · 14/03/2017 07:37

There's a woman on Facebook who I have seen doing live videos of her applying her younique makeup, it was really cringe. Over enthusiastic nonsense.

The big conferences that they have look pretty vomit inducing, too. Lots of bright lights, motivational music and Huns. I think I'd need a lie down after 5 mins.

TipTop333 · 14/03/2017 08:14

I can roll my eyes at the ones doing it alongside their usual job to earn a bit more cash, they'll come to their senses eventually.
It's the ones who are hoodwinked into thinking they can make a genuine living and provide for their family from it that I feel sorry for.

armpitz · 14/03/2017 08:30

I typed 'younique' into Instagram and looked for a few of these.

I'm also concerned by how vulnerable some of the women seem to be(and it is always women, funny that.)

Crowdblundering · 14/03/2017 08:33

armpitz yes Sad

Sounds like MLMs could do with being better regulated in all seriousness.

An old school friend of mine started this, though it was those Scentsy wax burners. I bought one at the start to support her, and when I went to her mum's house to collect it, the house smelled amazing. I said "oh that's gorgeous, I take it that's one of Gemma's burners you are using?" She replied "No, they are rubbish, it's a Glade plug-in!" Grin

PiratePointyTits · 14/03/2017 08:52

I've been invited to an online party tonight to introduce me to whatever these two flog (JuicePlus, I do believe).
I'm supposed to be super excited.

There was a girl on my dd birth fb group who got into juice plus. TBH couldn't stand the girl anyway but I went postal at her when she started pm-big members who had fertility issues prior and a member who's dad had cancer saying Juice plus could fix it.

Fucking vampires. I totally support people wanting to earn and run their own ventures but the only people profiting are those right at the top of the pyramid. 😤

maggiethemagpie · 14/03/2017 09:13

I knew a Herbalife bot who described doing Herbalife as being like 'falling in love'.

Says it all really

KungFuPandaWorksOut16 · 14/03/2017 11:20

Somebody on my facebook list joined one, it was toothpastes and stuff too slap on your skin. She paid £250 for all the kit and leaflets.
The poor girl did it for a month constantly on facebook and ended up owing the company money, she gave too many samples away and made no profit.

Her pictures would make me laugh, like look at the difference in my skin in one day! insert heavily photoshopped picture with flawless skin

AllllGooone · 14/03/2017 17:29

Sorrii hunz, but I think ur all jealous of my ex-pal who's able to simulataneously spend more time at home than when she was a SAHM, and attend millions of "training events" with "fellow mumpreneurz".

She tried to recruit me, I said "no I don't like pyramid schemes" she got offended.
