To think Louisa Johnson's set on Comic Relief was highly inappropriate?

Comic Relief Lets's Sing and Dance tonight. Nice family viewing.

Except that they had Louisa Johnson on promoting her new single. She and her dancers are all very young, dressed in tiny skimpy shorts, singing about bad behaviour and dancing about with teddy bears. It also started with her lying on a bed full of sweets.

It left me feeling highly uncomfortable. I don't have an issue with women wearing what they feel comfortable in but the whole thing seemed to smack of some sort of advert for sex with young girls.

Dan Yes, I know, I made a mistake and if you'd rtft you'd see I corrected it.

And it's absolutely NOTHING to do with being 'sexed up'.

It's about women being dressed up in an infantile way to seem sexy. If you can't get that then I despair.

Plus it was on at 6.45pm. And aimed at children and families.

I think you are all wrong, Louisa's performance was absolutely amazing, she was doing it for comic relief, Louisa has done a lot of charity work in the past including performing at the Rays of sunshine last October at Wembley, not only that she met with some of the children, she's an inspiration to so many people. Your judging her as a person because of what she's wearing, I think that shows your immature and you judge people too quickly, her outfit was not innopropiate at all, she look amzing she was wearing pink, and yes she had teddy bears and flying saucers everywhere but it was senestaional and her new song Jesus best behaviour it's amazing! Louisa is 19, she's a celebrity, a role model, a singer, she's her own person, she decides what she wears, she's showing people that you should be confident in yourself, she's happy that's the main thing. And Louisa's album might not be aimed at 5 years olds in particular, and she was promoting her new song and well as performing for charity which is an amazing thing. There really is no need for hate, I really don't see how you people can sit here and type hate to each other about a 19 year old singer, I mean what has she ever done to you? I hate haters, thought I would just put that out there, she is SO talented for 19, she's living her dream, doing what she was born to do and you people are trying to pull her down. I mean how would you like it if your child was a dancer or something and everything made a post slagging your child off I'm sure you would hate it, I certainly would if that was my child being slagged off, Louisa is one of nicest, most amazing, hardworking, dedicated people in this industry, please stop all this bitchiness I can't hate it, you really are showing how small you are! Thanks

😂

TheOnlyLivingToyInNewYork · 13/03/2017 14:53

Aw, its Louisa's mum!

Laiste · 13/03/2017 14:58

she's happy that's the main thing.

Grin

Well bugger me why didn't we all think of that?

elQuintoConyo · 13/03/2017 14:59

I. Am. Crying!

Littlepiglittlepig3letmeIN · 13/03/2017 15:07

I thought it was highly inappropriate.

How could it not be? Flying saucer sweets and teddy bears are for children.

Having a girl dressed in underwear on a pink bed of sweets and teddy bears.
Yuck.

Hopefully the BBC will give her a warning.

QueenofallIsee · 13/03/2017 15:11

I am howling at Flyingsaucer - i really hope that they do know her or Louise whatsit has a very odd fan there

Littlepiglittlepig3letmeIN · 13/03/2017 15:11

Anybody else find it ironic that the BBC have thrown a warning at Jenni Murray, but will probably turn a blind eye to this highly inappropriate performance.
I hope people do complain.

The monkeys are running the madhouse.

picklemepopcorn · 13/03/2017 15:20

Flying saucer, I don't think people were saying the singer isn't a nice woman. They were saying that a video which fetishes and infantilises women (and wastes food) is not a great choice at any time, let alone on a family friendly show raising money for famine relief among other things.

Child abuse is very real, 'fancying children' doesn't need to be encouraged or normalised by dressing adult women as sexy children.

AYankinSpanx · 13/03/2017 15:24

Well that definitely dealt with what the thread was about. Hmm

Louisa/Lousia's mum/Louisa's best mate aka FlyingSaucers; this isn't a thread about how 'sensational' Louisa is. It's a thread about how inappropriate the set was for the programme. It's actually quite a serious point about appropriating children's imagery and sexualising it. That's not about whether Louisa is an amazing dancer, is it? It's actually - brace yourself - not really about Louisa at all.

KarmaKit · 13/03/2017 15:44

Well hello Louise!

KarmaKit · 13/03/2017 15:44

Louisa * sorry.

Blobby10 · 13/03/2017 15:52

I was more gobsmacked (as I am every week!) at which act 'wins' the public vote! Thought The Chasers were very poor compared to Boys Aloud or even Ola and James

BabychamSocialist · 13/03/2017 15:54

I was bore upset about the kids dying of famine, starvation and preventable illnesses personally, but maybe that's just me.

BabychamSocialist · 13/03/2017 15:54

*more

BabychamSocialist · 13/03/2017 15:57

I agree with you it was a bit of weird theming but it's nothing new. You only need to look at Britney Spears "Hit Me Baby One More Time" to see that.

iMatter · 13/03/2017 15:59

I think it's Louisa's nan....

MrsTarzan1 · 13/03/2017 16:01

Wow that song is awful!

BeyondThePage · 13/03/2017 16:02

thought the kids suffering malaria etc was upsetting.

A young woman singing songs on some plastic sweets and dancing round in a short dress with hotpants underneath, giving her time for free for charity, not so much.

BuffyTheSpikeLayer · 13/03/2017 16:12

Hi Louisa's Mum/Nana

Flying saucer, I don't think people were saying the singer isn't a nice woman. They were saying that a video which fetishes and infantilises women (and wastes food) is not a great choice at any time, let alone on a family friendly show raising money for famine relief among other things

This sums my feelings on it perfectly.

She could be a fantastic role model for young women, and if she cares as much about charity and children like you say she does then please do encourage her to stand up to those around her that thought that was a good idea, and say NO.

BabychamSocialist · 13/03/2017 16:23

Although I suppose the argument could be made that her dressing up in that way doesn't mean she's advocating infantilisation of grown women, just like dressing as a zombie didn't mean Michael Jackson condoned the dead coming back to life.

Personally, it's not a stance I agree with. It's not something that's top of my list, but I suppose that's come from years of it happening and becoming desensitised to it, especially with 18/19yo girls like Britney Spears and the cast of St Trinian's being pushed into school costumes and it seemingly being condoned.

MycatsaPirate · 14/03/2017 15:14

I hate haters

The irony.

OP posts:
MycatsaPirate · 14/03/2017 15:16

beyond Don't assume she was just being charitable. If you see her Twitter page, it's ALL self-promotion and all about her performances on TV, wherever and whenever they are. I assume she was thrilled to be on TV, getting paid or not.

Manijo · 14/03/2017 16:04

All I could think was the waste of Flying Saucers because I love them.
apart from that it was all pretty crap
