To think that people living on welfare shouldn't be running off every five minutes for a new tattoo or piercing?

I'm probably going to get shot down for this, but I just had a little disagreement with a woman I know. She posted a photo on Facebook of a rather large tattoo on her forearm that she'd just had done. Last month she had skin divers put in her chest and hand. The month before she had another shit tattoo.
This individual is single and has two children. She hasn't worked a day in the last decade, but is living off the state. Am I being a bitch by thinking she should spend the money she receives on feeding the children and keeping a roof over their heads? I noted that she feeds her boys Pot Noodle for dinner but makes sure she's got her fags too. It just annoys me.

Oh, and also. No, I don't claim anything myself. I'm fortunate enough that I do 't have to be subsidised in any way by the tax payer. Should my situation change because my husband ran off with another woman or I was diagnosed with cancer I would gratefully take the money given to me and wouldn't feel bad for a second about it. But if I was wasting said monies on shit then, yes. I'd feel pretty crap about that.

I don't think OP is being U Confused

I grew up in a household with a mother who had never worked a day in her life despite being fully able to. She lied and committed benefit fraud on several occasions (caught twice).

She too would put her smoking habit before feeding us, it'd be the first thing the benefits went on. She also treated herself to large tattoos that required lots of sessions costing (to us) a huge amount of money. It wasn't unusual for us to have to do without something like electricity if she'd spent her funds on tattoos.

What OP described would piss me off if I saw it now.

Dawndonnaagain · 09/03/2017 18:18

Perhaps rather than condemning her you could offer some help.
Just saying...

PortiaCastis · 09/03/2017 18:18

Don't be so ignorant OP.

Thanks for the tip Clopy I'll investigate later as I have to rustle up a couple of pot noodles 😁

Presstheresetbutton · 09/03/2017 18:18

I nearly took a photo at the job centre the other day just to show the luxurious surroundings. Burly security guards, a mother in tears, chairs screwed to the floor and more CCTV than the high street on a Saturday night.

Mate honestly it's a fucking ball down there. And we all laugh and laugh at you suckers going to work everyday. I fully intend to spend my £70 on cocaine and wine. The kids are alright with their FREE school dinners. Anyway the pupil premium pays for their swimming so I don't need to.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 09/03/2017 18:19

Lazy fat bitches who would rather buy tattoos than feed their kids deserve a bullet in the head. Nothing you can say will make me think it's morally correct to spend welfare money on fucking tattoos and fags whilst the kids eat shit

But if you work full time and neglect your kids by wasting money and not feeding them properly that's ok is it? Why is it about benefits? If it was about shit parenting we'd all agree, but you're targeting a daily mail stereotype tiny minority of people with a disproportionate amount of vitriol.

Applebite · 09/03/2017 18:20

I'm a top rate tax payer and net contributor.

DP stays at home with the baby. He has tattoos and has been known to eat a pot noodle. And he loves him some sky tv. And beer. But he doesn't get any benefits.

I'M SO CONFUSED, OP.

Lweji · 09/03/2017 18:20

I should obviously survive on lentils and broad beans?

I'd be happy on broad beans. :)

CheeseonTwats, people are ignoring your comment. Never mind.

BitchQueen90 · 09/03/2017 18:21

OP, here's an idea.

Delete this woman off Facebook. You won't have to see it any more then, will you? Job done.

PortiaCastis · 09/03/2017 18:23

Here is a list of why claimants get sanctioned and do not get any payment

Toobloodytired · 09/03/2017 18:23

Damn it!

Better bin all my non holey clothes

Stop wearing shoes.

Lose a fair few stone in case people think I'm getting too much welfare money to pay for luxurious food from m&s

Never! Never drink alcohol again regardless of how cheap it is, it's a luxury

Don't even think about looking at cigarettes! They are for the working class ONLY!

And!! Never moan about being skint! Otherwise people will ask wtf I spend my £200 a month on!

Apologies to the working class! I shall never moan about my situation, I feel so very lucky to be in!

'Bows down to the working class'

Lweji · 09/03/2017 18:24

Lazy fat bitches who would rather buy tattoos than feed their kids deserve a bullet in the head

So, death penalty for spending money on things not approved by you.

I hear you. Have you written a letter to your MP? I'm sure they'd welcome the distraction from Brexit. Grin

LexieLulu · 09/03/2017 18:24

I don't know how you keep this lady on your fb friends list, she would drive me crazy

KC225 · 09/03/2017 18:25

I agree with the OP - tattoos are bloody awful and so down market nowadays.

Never had a pot noodle but saw someone the other day with a cous cous pot noddle, looked really nice.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 09/03/2017 18:25

Are you sure they're tattoos and not drawn on with sharpies? Poor people can't afford needles with their ink...

You sound so bitter op, perhaps if you feel so strongly you should tell the 'fat bitch' and don't forget to mention the 'bullet in the head part'????

Thought not, how gutless!

PageNowFoundFileUnderSpartacus · 09/03/2017 18:27

The problem isn't that she's on benefits. The problem is she's a shit parent who is prioritising herself over her children, and likely to be so whether she was in work or not.

If you think she's claiming benefits fraudulently, report her. If you think her children are being neglected, report her. But if all you want is to use her as an extreme example why benefit claimants should have their purchases sanctioned by The Taxpayer, then YABU as they come.

allfurcoatandnoknickers1 · 09/03/2017 18:28

Ok, I stand corrected. You're all right, I'm wrong. Where do I sign up for the free money for tattoos fund? This is unbelievable. Cheeseontwats - I'm not ignoring your comment. You're the only person on here with an ounce of sense. How the hell can it ever be right to constantly waste your benefits on piercings and body art? That money is supposed to be for feeding your children and clothing you all. Spend it on the purpose it was intended for, ffs.

Annesmyth123 · 09/03/2017 18:28

Op do you and your child use the facilities at the local leisure centre for the swimming class? Do you ever take your child to the doctor? Did you have NHS maternity care?

Toobloodytired · 09/03/2017 18:29

"Can't be assed to work"

Wow! You clearly love arguments!!

Woohoo it gone kick off!

If I go back to work when my child is 9 months old, I will get left with hundreds less working than I would if I claimed from the state.

Please don't give me the crap of "oh but at least you'll be providing for your child yourself & not the tax payers".

The "tax payer" is currently me!

No one gets prizes or awards for working their entire lives and no one gets prizes or awards for not.

People need to butt their very big noses out of people's lives.

If she's smart enough to get people on fb to give her hand outs then leave her to it!

MinimumPaymentMaximumBurrito · 09/03/2017 18:29

I'll bet they make the pot noodle with warm goat milk. This is quite healthy!

PortiaCastis · 09/03/2017 18:29

Yes but why don't you tell the person you are ranting about OP ?
