To think that people living on welfare shouldn't be running off every five minutes for a new tattoo or piercing?

I'm probably going to get shot down for this, but I just had a little disagreement with a woman I know. She posted a photo on Facebook of a rather large tattoo on her forearm that she'd just had done. Last month she had skin divers put in her chest and hand. The month before she had another shit tattoo.
This individual is single and has two children. She hasn't worked a day in the last decade, but is living off the state. Am I being a bitch by thinking she should spend the money she receives on feeding the children and keeping a roof over their heads? I noted that she feeds her boys Pot Noodle for dinner but makes sure she's got her fags too. It just annoys me.

No crosscuntry
It's my chequebook. Linked to the account filled with money earned with my own blood, sweat and tears. I know this is an alien idea, but you should try it. It feels good to rely on no one but yourself.

I'm so glad that my poor mums suffering as she tried to drag her family out of the gutter brings you such mirth. I'll pass this on to her. She would give you a big fat finger to sit on if she were still alive, I'm sure.

For some reason, I am imagining your 'successful online business' is bedazzling things and selling them on Facebook.

SumThucker · 10/03/2017 00:31

Lame as fuck changing the name of the poster 'country' to 'cuntry'. Kind of thing a 12 year old would do.

SumThucker · 10/03/2017 00:32

Aye, Mistress.

Lweji · 10/03/2017 00:32

Is it just bad luck that SOME women end up in a series of abusive relationships or is there some reason they are choosing relationships with a particular type?

Statistically, some women will enter a string of abusive relationships by pure bad luck, yes.
Abuse can come in many shapes and not be easily recognisable at first.

But good on you for continuing to victim blame.

Dontactlikeyouknowme · 10/03/2017 00:33

Yes very lame. Now if anyone still believes the OP is for real they need internet lessons.

PortiaCastis · 10/03/2017 00:33

She would give you a big fat finger to sit on

How childish !

BillSykesDog · 10/03/2017 00:33

Barnsley is a really weird place for a family with a sea based profession to live.

allfurcoatandnoknickers1 · 10/03/2017 00:34

No, I didn't live through the miners strike. My family left the area before I was born, 37 years ago. My dad was a miner before he joined the navy though. He was horrifically injured in a pit accident when he was burned with hot tar. It didn't stop him from reaching a good standard in his career though. He went on to run the sickbay on the Ark Royal. Hard work, and all that.

There are different scenarios like: one friend of mine is living as a single mum falsely and getting shed loads of money to waste on cigs, always out on Facebook checking into fancy hotels etc and the kids could do with some decent money spent on them and the house etc, and then another family I know has got a "single mum" false claim but they are on the bones of there backside and can't make ends meet, so we can't really say what the money goes on and I know it's impossible but every case should be viewed separate and uniquely!

This woman may have a tough time looking after the kids and this is her "treat" to herself, we shouldn't really judge but I do also see what you mean with some people in some scenarios!

Dawndonnaagain · 10/03/2017 00:36

As I said, furcoat I bought a book today. One assumes, as you declined to comment, that purchasing a book is an acceptable option for my benefit monies to be used. I would not be able to purchase books were benefits recipients paid via a voucher system. Neither would said voucher system prevent folk from purchasing what they chose should they really wish to.
It's all well and good you sitting there saying I don't mind if some folk really need it and use it sensibly, but again, when I suggested you offered her help, you declined to answer. People in these situations often have not been afforded the education required to run a family, a budget a home. You could perhaps offer her a couple of recipes and help her cook them. You could offer to show her how to budget monthly, but no, it's far easier to sit on judgement on those of us you deem below you.

SumThucker · 10/03/2017 00:36

So you're northern, from Barnsley, yet your family left before you were born? Righty-ho.

Lweji · 10/03/2017 00:36

The state are operating a benefits cap and only the first 2 children attract any benefits from April.

What happens if a woman gets pregnant with 3rd or fourth? Give up for adoption?
Abortion?
Deprived children?

It sounds great.

MistressMerryWeather · 10/03/2017 00:37

I remember this plot from a Catherine Cookson novel.

'Tilly Trotter and the Troll' or something.

SumThucker · 10/03/2017 00:38

I've read that book.

CrossCountryRunner · 10/03/2017 00:38

OP

Sitting in a Maida Vale mews house here which I bought on my own without a partner nearly twenty years ago. I won't mention how much it is worth now.

I was unemployed for a short while. Through a combination of illness and redundancy. I do have a work ethnic.

Nor do I believe you hail from Barnsley.

Now do fuck off.

Husband not paying you any attention?

Dontactlikeyouknowme · 10/03/2017 00:39

I remember that book. Did she live in a cave or under a bridge?

allfurcoatandnoknickers1 · 10/03/2017 00:39

So you're northern, from Barnsley, yet your family left before you were born? Righty-ho.

I believe I said I hail from, meaning my family come from.

Do trolls get tattoos or is it the goats?

BillSykesDog · 10/03/2017 00:40

You can't be from Barnsley. You can spell.

SumThucker · 10/03/2017 00:40

Goats I think, like branding?

ilovesooty · 10/03/2017 00:40

blood sweat and tears

Some of these posts are so full of clichés the posters seem to be becoming caricatures of themselves.

allfurcoatandnoknickers1 · 10/03/2017 00:40

You are all so funny. With your northern stereotypes and you 'we used tu lik rood clean wit tongue. Luxury, it woh'
Don't give up your day jobs.
