To ask for POSITIVE induction experiences?

Posting here for traffic mainly, also when I search the question in MN, the server wouldn't open most of the topic pages 🙄

I am booked in for an induction this Wednesday. I am fully aware of the risks of c section, how long and drawn the whole process can be. I am a realist, but I would like to think positive, so if anyone could share a positive experience with me I'd be very grateful. Smile

Oh, I'm 38 weeks and it's my first baby.

1 pessary at 6.30pm - ready to go at 6am next day.

10.30 down for waters breaking was 3cm dilated. 1.35pm daughter born.

No tears no assistance and a lovely birthing experience!

I have 4 kids. First and last were inducted, one was a 10 lb whopper. They were my best labours, one was totally pain and drug free, that was number 1 and I couldn't understand why people said childbirth was painful. Then I had number 2 went into labour normally and it was long and painful. Number 3 went into labour, went on and on and on until I ended up with a section. Number 4 went in for induction, the broke my waters and five hours later I had a 10lb baby which was by far my fastest labour.

Good luck.

I'm a slightly different case as high risk and vbac so no pesticides so I was induced through breaking my waters on due date. Brilliant experience 4hrs and straightforward, minimal pain relief, it was fast and I suppose intense but definitely not in a bad way. I have previously had an emcs and a second trimester miscarriage and the labour pains from induction were easier perhaps because it was faster. Each birth is different and I think it's just important to go with the flow and take it as it comes. Good luck meeting your little one

Had the pessary at 12pm with ds2. Nothing much happened so had lunch at 1pm and a nap. Started to get mild pains around 7pm which were regular contractions by 8. By 8.30 i was uncomfortable enough to ask for gas and air and when they checked me i was 5cm dilated. Ds2 was born at 9pm, i had a quick recovery and was out the next day.

However, i must say that i had the pessary and when things started happening they suggested the drip at 7.30... I refused, and stayed on my feet walking up and down for the next hour.

It,s worth keeping in mind that the drip to force contractions isn,t always necessary and one is suggested far too soon often ime, which you are able to decline or at least delay if you feel things are progressing.

I was induced on the drip for both of mine and both were delivered 'naturally'.

First time i went into labour spontaneously but because of pre-eclampsia went straight to drip with epidural on arrival at hospital. That took 14 hours from the drip (with an episiotomy).

Second time was induced at 38 weeks (to avoid onset of pre-eclampsia) - sweep, pessary, waters broken by midwife then drip (with gas and air), natural delivery and no tear/stitches. That was 18 hours from the first pessary, 6 hours from the drip.

The first time wasn't great but that was probably mainly due to the pre-eclampsia. The second time was a really lovely experience.

I was 36 weeks with twins, induced due to pre-eclampsia.

They gave me drugs the second I needed them, I slept through a lot of the contractions which was good as otherwise I would have ended up with a section.

I did also have a epidural.

Mummyrowland · 05/03/2017 22:53

Oh I did have the drip sent contractions mad but after telling them they lowered it down. Did it all on gas and air and had dd with weight of 7lbs 1.5oz

They thought she would be big as I had gestational diabetes!

My induction was brilliant. Hind waters had broken at 37 weeks, contractions/labour didn't progress so I was induced the next day.
I expected it to be scary and drawn out too, but it wasn't.
Literally arrived at the hospital, had my obs taken, baby was monitored for a bit, then they inserted the pessary to get things started. Was told it might take a while so I sent dsis and DP home. Had to ring them to get back 15 minutes after they'd left as contractions began almost immediately 3 mins apart (totally bearable for the first few hours by the way, I was bouncing away on birthing ball, chatting and munching bits of food between them). Anywho, established labour was noted in my green notes lasting 6hrs and 40 odd minutes. Had diamorphine in the last hour of it (when transition hit). Then out she popped, no tears, had a slight graze which wasn't painful, just stung a bit when I had a wee. DD was happy and healthy. The WORST part about the whole thing was staying in hospital for the 24 hours afterwards - I don't like hospital food! Lol! Really straight forward and simple. Good luck! It's normal to be scared, I was shitting bricks but I needn't have done!

I had an induction at 35 weeks for pre-eclampsia, also my first baby. I had the pessary at midnight, waters broken 9.30 and drip started. My daughter was born at 11.40 with just gas and air.

I was really worried about induction as had heard horror stories, mine honestly was fine. I was monitored continuously and on a bed which I hadn't wanted but didn't really bother me at the time. Good luck, hope everything goes smoothly for you
