To be heartbroken at yet ANOTHER fave product being discontinued?

I have just discovered Thorntons have discontinued their strawberry fondant chocolate pigs, and I am quite frankly devastated. These have been my fave little treat since I was about 12, and now they are no more!

It's the latest in a long line of favourite products being discontinued - does anyone else get unreasonably irritated by this?! I'll start a list, feel free to add to it...

  • Thorntons strawberry fondant pigs (sob)
  • Benefit 'So Hooked on Carmella' perfume
  • Lush Aqua Mirabilis (my thighs will never be the same again)

Still gutted about the withdrawal of Kelloggs Sugar Stars circa 1968 if I'm honest. Probably a good thing though as I still have teeth Grin

Mummysh0rtlegs · 05/03/2017 10:26

The Sara Lee pecan danish cake, it was frozen and you put it in the oven and it was awesome, warm and cinnamony and loads of sugar and pecans on the top.

millymae · 05/03/2017 10:26

The Fry's chocolate bars that had different fruit flavoured fondant creams in the centre. They still make one with white fondant and another with mint but the fruit flavoured ones have seemingly gone for ever

morethanacondiment · 05/03/2017 10:26

Sara Lee Double Chocolate Gateau. Cake

SituationNormalAllFuctup · 05/03/2017 10:26

Oh crikey, I'd forgotten about the toothpaste that made your gums red to make your teeth look white!

Muddlewitch · 05/03/2017 10:28

The galaxy truffles in boxes of celebrations.

Sam McKnight hair products in the 90's smelt lovely.

adaisychain · 05/03/2017 10:28

Still not over the loss of fuse bars, or the milky bar fudge...

Had forgotten about echo bars, the mint ones were ace!

Picklesandpies · 05/03/2017 10:29

WHAT?! OUTRAGEOUS! I love them too!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 05/03/2017 10:30

Clinique Perfectly Real foundation in all the pale colours. I bought the last 3 in my colour in Boots but have no idea what to use when it's gone.

Tiptoethr0ughthetulips · 05/03/2017 10:30

I was scowering the sandwiches at Greggs for a cheese and bacon bigbite the other day ( I'm pregnant), it seems they no longer exist. I did then remember it's probably 10 years since I last had one.
I miss how Cadbury chocolate used to taste.

Labtest7 · 05/03/2017 10:35

Prawn cocktail hula hoops 😭

seafoodeatit · 05/03/2017 10:35

Duchy strawberry cordial
Turkey twizzlers - I know, I know, they may be wrong but I want to have one!

adaisychain · 05/03/2017 10:36

Actually, the scariest thing is realising how long ago these things were discontinued...suddenly feel quite old.

AverysillyoldHector · 05/03/2017 10:36

Vichy did a fab tinted moisturiser in a range of colours (creme teintee lumineuse) but suddenly discontinued the 00 shade which was the fairest. I'd pay a lot of money for a tube of that.

Funnily enough, I was looking in a shop this week to see if they still sold Fuse bars, havent thought about them for years. And I think I remember the hot crunch pudding - did you make it with boiling water and then put some crunchy bits on top?

SweetestThing · 05/03/2017 10:37

I still grieve for Mint Cracknel. Also various shampoos and conditioners (used to love Clinic shampoo, dark blue in colour and smelled gorgeous), household cleaners and fab cons that I particularly like and were then discontinued. It's all part of the universe's cunning plan to thwart me at every opportunity...

Megatherium · 05/03/2017 10:39

M&S's sausage and tomato roll.

EB123 · 05/03/2017 10:40

The Body Shop Brazil Nut Body Butter, loved the smell of this stuff.

Beardsareweird · 05/03/2017 10:42

Body Shop Love etc perfume

Heinz toast toppers. I miss them so much Sad

The Fry's chocolate bars that had different fruit flavoured fondant creams in the centre.

Fry's Five Centres - they were bloody fab, especially the pineapple bit.

Terry's "Spartan" chocolates - dark chocolate and all hard or chewy centres - nougat, chewy caramel, butterscotch and lots of lovely nutty ones.

Cadbury's Ice Breaker - like an Elizabeth Shaw mint crisp, but a whole bar of it.

M&S used to do fab sausage rolls, with tomato in the sausage meat and cheesy pastry - delish.

Most of all though, I miss Gold Magnums, coated on chocolate that was like Caramac.

Boots Natural Collection used to do a great lippy, called Conker or Chestnut or something. It was a russet-y red, perfect colour for me. Dior do a close colour, but at 8 times the price.

SweetestThing · 05/03/2017 10:46

The Body Shop post reminds me of their Grapefruit shampoo and Fuzzy Peach shower gel, sadly no longer with us and still missed.

northerngirl71 · 05/03/2017 10:46

Clinique Gentle light foundation - they bought it back after customers complained then took it away again ! How cruel .
And pacers.

LaGattaNera · 05/03/2017 10:49

My dad used to eat Spartan chocolates and am sure I saw some in one of the Pound shops Xmas time as felt very teary when I saw them (definitely weren't black magic which he also ate)

wibblywobblywoo · 05/03/2017 10:49

Loads of stuff, too many to list, often feel I am the kiss of death to products!

Slightly off topic but really sympathise with your plight Candace - my hairdresser talked me through how the numbers on hair dye boxes work and these links are both really good at explaining it so, if you have a note of the numbers on your old hair dye, matching them to a new product should give the closest result to what you used to use. Hope you find something.
