Oh, I see. Trump said something stupid and everyone is demanding actual evidence from him, so now they are coming up with an excuse for refusing to talk about it. Hmm

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 14:23

Bad move. Smile

PausingFlatly · 05/03/2017 14:27

So, shall we open a book on how long it will take for 45 to contradict this statement from Spicer, and "comment further"?

I'm going for within 2 hours. If he manages to take his phone into the loo with him.

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 14:28

But then I guess there's no 'good move' for them right now.

Lweji · 05/03/2017 14:34

So, they keep trying to tell investigators what to investigate?
Isn't that an abuse of investigative powers by the executive branch?

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 05/03/2017 14:36

The BTL comments on that Fox article about the Trump rallies are Shock Seriously hair-raising - so hate-filled and full of violence.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 05/03/2017 14:38

Of course, I'm just showing myself for the "week" (sic) scrawny girl libtard that I am. Hmm

thedcbrokemybank · 05/03/2017 14:39

Can anyone explain the whole benghazi cover up please? When I Google it all I get in right wing sites which just say how awful HC is and that Obama wanted a United States of Islam. No actual information.

Pence:

VP Mike Pence criticises AP for publishing wife's AOL email address

"In a tweet on Saturday, Pence said that by publishing the personal AOL address of his wife, Karen, the AP “violated her privacy and our security”. The vice-president posted a letter his counsel sent to Gary Pruitt, the AP’s president and chief executive, and said the AP “owes my wife an apology”."

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/mar/05/vp-mike-pence-criticises-ap-wifes-aol-email-address?CMP=twt_gu

Shouldn't he apologise to his wife for mixing her email with his official business?

Lweji · 05/03/2017 15:00

Benghazi

There was an attack on the US diplomatic compound and a CIA annex, which led to the death of some people, including the Ambassador.

One issue is who led the attacks. It seems it was premeditated (some say by Al Qaeda), but there were initial claims that it was rioters. It involves Youtube videos and statments.

The other main issue is that the US Administration left the compounds vulnerable and didn't deal with the attack properly, leading to more deaths.

edition.cnn.com/2013/09/10/world/benghazi-consulate-attack-fast-facts/

I can't help but think that it's not a coincidence that the whole Benghazi scandal happened during a Presidential campaign.

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 15:11

Lweji

Was his wife's account the same one that Pence used for official business?

Lweji · 05/03/2017 15:17

It looks like it. It's not very clear, actually, but I can't think of any other reason why they would publish it. Or she is using his old email address.

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 15:21

No. It's not clear is it?

If he was using it then fair enough. If not, I don't think they should have published it. Just my own view, though.

Lweji · 05/03/2017 15:22

From the Chicago Tribune.

"At the end of his term, Pence hired the Indianapolis law firm of Barnes & Thornburg to conduct a review of all of his communications and that review is still ongoing, Lotter said."

I think it's weird that they are still conducting a review of his communications through that email, and his wife is still using it.

Lweji · 05/03/2017 15:24

What he seems to be saying is that she is still using that account. Why? If it's under review, and he got another one with better security features?

Honestly, it just sounds like an excuse to turn on his critics.

AcrossthePond55 · 05/03/2017 15:26

It just seems he's getting more and more desperate, doesn't it? He's started tossing tweeting out vague and/or unsubstantiated claims and accusations to take the focus off of Russia and his failing numbers. He's couched them with '?' to make them 'questions, not accusations' so he can later retract them saying "Well, it was what I was told" as he has before when his claims have been proven false. A tried and true tactic to take the heat off of oneself. Deflect and redirect.

It also seems to me as if many of his usual supporters sycophants in Congress and elsewhere (Ryan, Fox News, et al) are no longer immediately jumping on his every statement as if it were Gospel shouting "yes, yes, investigate!!! MAGA!!" but are beginning to slowly back away and remain silent when he throws a 'Twitter-tantrum'.

Please let it be so and not just my imagination!

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 15:33

Oh Yes. It's 'Russia' all right.

Lweji · 05/03/2017 15:37

It seems the wiretapping was "as seen in Breitbart". Surprise, surprise.

The New York Times‏Verified account @nytimes 8m8 minutes ago

"Trump's demand for an investigation appears to be based, at least in part, on unproved claims by Breitbart News"

Or possibly Bannon comming out with the story and planting it both on Breitbart and Trump's head.

www.nytimes.com/2017/03/05/us/politics/trump-seeks-inquiry-into-allegations-that-obama-tapped-his-phones.html?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur

This sort of attack worked well for them during the campaign.

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 15:38

The campaign was one thing. This is something else. Wink

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 15:40

I recall this old movie with Vincent Price - 'The Masque of the Red Death'. Based upon a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, if I recall? Smile

Lweji · 05/03/2017 15:49

Not familiar with that film. In what way?

(1/4) Reports concerning potentially politically motivated investigations immediately ahead of the 2016 election are very troubling.

(2/4) President Trump is requesting that as part of their investigation into Russian activity, the congressional intelligence committees

(3/4) exercise their oversight authority to determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016.

(4/4) Neither the White House nor the President will comment further until such oversight is conducted.

If this is accurate it looks like Putin is still draining his swamp in his very own style. By the way, the comments on this tweet are darkly hilarious if you like your comedy black.

NY Times

"If Mr. Trump was motivated to take to Twitter after reading the Breitbart article or listening to Mr. Levin, he was using a presidential megaphone to spread dark theories of a broad conspiracy aimed at undermining his presidential ambitions, and later his presidency"
