To ask if you love your job, what do you do?

I'm wondering if people who love their jobs are just more enthusiastic people.

Do you genuinely love your job, like look forward to going to work most days? Is there anything that you dislike?

Did you always know what you wanted to do or have a career change? Have you have a job previously that you disliked?

I'm really stuck in a rut and need inspiration. I'm in a boring but equally stressful job but with good perks.

I'm a teacher and head of year. Secondary school. I love my job.

FittonTower · 26/02/2017 17:30

I'm a fundraiser for a small domestic violence charity, it's awesome. Very fulfilling, I work with brilliant people and it's varied and interesting work

BillyButtfuck · 26/02/2017 17:31

I'm an estate agent yes I know you all hate me and I really love it. I love meeting different people every day when I'm at work and being in different places each day, it's never the exact same (work from home not an office).
What I most love is finding someone's perfect home for them, seeing their faces when it clicks that this is going to be their home, where they will be bringing their new baby home to or where their new married life will start.
I also like seeing how one house which has become outgrown and boring to one family, is a dream come true first home for another.

I particularly love my company as I can work from home and set my own hours and manage my own diary.

Fundraiser for a grant making organisation. Love my job. Love seeing the difference our grants make. Sometime gives me the shivers or makes me cry or makes me very happy. Very inspiring and humbling work.
I count my blessings every single day.

OwlinaTree · 26/02/2017 17:32

Teacher, primary/early years. I love it.

daimbardiva · 26/02/2017 17:32

Project manager for a government agency - mostly love it as I really believe in the potential of what we do to make a huge difference to people's lives

Badhairday1001 · 26/02/2017 17:35

I'm a teacher and I love it. I am going in to my 10th year and I love it more than ever now. I work in a SEN school and it's brilliant. I feel really lucky to work with amazing kids, parents and staff and I feel like I make a real difference every day. Downsides - longish commute and usually no breaks in the day. The pros definitely outweigh the cons for me though.

backaftera2yearbreak · 26/02/2017 17:38

Welfare rights. Very rewarding.

highinthesky · 26/02/2017 17:40

yorkshapudding - did you not find the difference in pay from senior nurse (by that am assuming 8b or above) to counsellor a big drop? I agree the work would be rewarding though.

ChatEnOef people like you and Writerwannabee83 are true heros. I would struggle with irregular hours now.

grumpysquash3 · 26/02/2017 17:41

I discover new cancer drugs (scientist in biotech company) - I really like my job.

BikeRunSki · 26/02/2017 17:41

LeVacheQuiWee · 26/02/2017 17:41

I'm a photographer.

I love my job and I'm really good at what I specialise in.

It still makes me laugh that people see it as a glamourous, well payed job Hmm

AYankinSpanx · 26/02/2017 17:46

I used to work in the city in a very, very stressful environment. I don't think I ever enjoyed the job, although the perks were pretty great.

I now write from home and absolutely love it. Total freedom and autonomy which I value far more than anything.

busyboysmum · 26/02/2017 17:46

I'm a lawyer. I love my job as I love helping people. It's a challenge, every day is different, it stimulates my mind. I also work with lovely people which helps a lot.

PamDooveOrangeJoof · 26/02/2017 17:47

I love love love my job. Work in a school office at a very small school.
Used to work in finance which was soul destroying. The kids make me laugh every single day and the team I work with are amazing.

After having jobs where I would have panic attacks going in or spend all day being bollocked for some one else's mistakes - it's a revelation to not dread work and actually enjoy it/

Downsides is money is pretty crap but hey, you can't have it all!

MoodyOne · 26/02/2017 17:48

What ever job I have done I have always loved ... (if I didn't like it I left)
I work as customer services and it's great ... each job has negatives, you just have to focus on the good stuff :-)

I'm a career coach and LOVE what I do. It's v satisfying helping people be happier professionally. It's also fascinating from a psychology/behaviour point of view.

I've had a job I hated in the past along with a couple ive disliked and one I've liked but not loved. I truly believe everyone should love at least 70% of their job... if you don't currently, then there is something better out there somewhere for you.

Applebite · 26/02/2017 17:50

Lawyer here. It's stressful and sometimes I hate it, but mostly I really like it. A big part of that is liking the team that you work with, tbh.

Applebite · 26/02/2017 17:50

Haha busyboysmum - almost word for word snap :)

Idrinkandiknowstuff · 26/02/2017 17:53

I work in food safety, started out packing food in a factory, a better job was advertised internally, I applied and got it, and it all kind of evolved from there. I've moved companies a few times, and now have health and safety and training to look after but I love it. Good pay, and massively in demand, took me ten days from deciding I wanted to leave my last company to getting a job offer.

winterinmadeira · 26/02/2017 17:53

Public health specialist - I love it. Lots of variety in my specialism. the days can be stressful but fly by.

ollieplimsoles · 26/02/2017 17:53

I'm a children's book illustrator, the industry is my home and I'm challenges every day

NancePants · 26/02/2017 17:54

I'm a Careers Advisor too. Waves to Original

I'm passionate about raisin aspiration in young people. I love working with the students, they are interesting, interested, hilarious and great company. I work in a different school every day, 4 days a week, with 10 weeks holiday a year so fits me perfectly with young children.

Have always worked in advice and guidance in some capacity. People, by and large, are lovely.

JustCallMeKate · 26/02/2017 17:55
