I dont know what is weird and controlling with eating with the people you live with.

BizzyFizzy · 22/02/2017 18:01

Yes, we all eat together.

Rosieposy4 · 22/02/2017 18:02

Yes, if you are in the house then you are expected at the dinner table. (Normally served 7/7:30pm).
Had three times 18 year olds and they have all done this, time for everyone to chat about their day and sort out arrangements for the next.

Beth2511 · 22/02/2017 18:04

My neighbiur her kids are 40, 37 and 32 and they are all round every single sunday for family dinner. Thays what im hoping to achieve!

DaffodilsAndCrocus · 22/02/2017 18:05

I'm hoping mine will take me out!

Bluntness100 · 22/02/2017 18:06

Yes, we always ate at the table together. Now my daughter is at uni, my husband and I seldom do, we make something but eat it in front of the tv, prob sitting down a couple of times a week at the table.

My daughter strongly objects ,when she comes home from uni , to eating in front of the tv and much prefers we sit at the table and always complains if we don't . I think possibly as she's used to us all sitting together at the table.

Rosieposy4 · 22/02/2017 18:07

And for the wierd and controlling bunch, if we are being rude then i find it bizarre that you live in the same house as someone and take food to your room or eat at different times when you were all in over a reasonable mealtime. Antisocial and uncivilised.

musicteacheriz · 22/02/2017 18:07

Yes, unless there's a particular reason why she's eating early/late

DaffodilsAndCrocus · 22/02/2017 18:07

Controlling kids ,eh! Wink

Shockers · 22/02/2017 18:10

One 17, one 18, yes they both sit down for breakfast and dinner with us (lunch too, if we're all at home).

aginghippy · 22/02/2017 18:33

Yes we all eat together, if we are home. We enjoy each others company, it's not weird or controlling.

houseofhungryboys · 22/02/2017 19:14

Yes both 18yr old and 14yr old always eat with us - only time to have a good chat all together over dinner. Can't imagine doing anything else really

JaneJeffer · 22/02/2017 20:00

Yes he does. Always have telly on though because I can't bear the sound of other people eating!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/02/2017 20:04

No, fractured eating in our house. On a Sunday I'll try and get everyone together. If I do, nobody complains and happily eat together (20,18,16 year olds here)

whattimestea · 22/02/2017 20:09

Yes, unless he's at work or out with friends. If we're all at home we eat together at the dinner table as a family (me, DH and 5DS's)

Love51 · 22/02/2017 20:12

Mine are nowhere near that age yet, but I wonder if being allowed' to eat upstairs makes a difference? I grew up only eating downstairs, and we do the same now. We ate with parents if we were home, along with boyfriends and girlfriends.

FourKidsNotCrazyYet · 22/02/2017 20:16

Yes. My eldest is 19, when he's home with us he will eat at the table with us. The only real exception is our 17 year old. She goes to her horse after school so has to have her dinner later. We all eat as a family.

LIZS · 22/02/2017 20:17

Yes, ds home from uni and we just did

Enko · 22/02/2017 20:18

No 18 year old but a 19 and 17 who both does. As does 15 and 13 year olds.

We have days we all sit at the table and days where we dont. If its fish they know to go to the table ..

AlmostAJillSandwich · 22/02/2017 20:21

Never had a "dinner time" as such. We used the table at christmas and new year only :P We'd eat at the same time, but whilst sat on the sofa/livingroom floor whilst watching TV.

mymatemarmite · 22/02/2017 20:21

We all try and eat together at the table if possible - DD22, DD19 and DD17. Obviously there are times when one of them are out or late back from work. They still sit at the table and eat! (We are semi open planned so not doomed to the dining room!)

MsJudgemental · 22/02/2017 20:29

Ours is 17 and we have always eaten dinner at the table together from when he was little. We never had a separate early teatime for him, and we just have dinner when everyone is in. If he's at his girlfriend's, he just tells us he's out for the night or won't be back in time for dinner, but we don't do the random grazing thing.

BeyondThePage · 22/02/2017 20:37

Generally.

We tend to eat together if we are all home, not always at the table, sometimes on the sofa, tend to sit and chat if we are all together.

imonaplane · 22/02/2017 20:47

My children are in their 20's now, we have always and still do all eat together in the evening unless someone is out. I don't understand how enjoying eating together can be classed as "weird and controlling"!

TheFairyCaravan · 22/02/2017 20:48

When DS1 is at work through the week he cooks with his best mate and they eat together. Likewise DS2 and his housemates try to eat together, too, but that doesn't always work because DS2 is a student nurse so does shifts.

We'v managed to bring up weird and controlling kids! Grin
