a friend of mines dd says fart all the time! i dont like it and would prefer something less rude! Is it just me?

OP posts:
DeviousDaffodil · 28/02/2007 21:26

DS's say fart, DS1 often 'touches cloth' as well, or' Mum I have touched cloth i think!'
MAkes me chuckle!

DrDaddy · 28/02/2007 21:28

"Touches cloth" is something different altogether. Like the "big brown crayon" isn't it??

plummymummy · 28/02/2007 21:28

Don't really mind. Ds says gas but I don't care what he says really so long as he's not swearing.

Boco · 28/02/2007 21:29

dds friends family hate farts, say windy pops, and instead of bottom say botty, and poopy instead of poo, but worst of all, refuse to give a name to fanjo / front bottom / girl bits / vaginas. The mum says that when the time comes and the children are older she'll explain (said in hushed tones) but until then, she calls it botty too - same as the bottom. I think thats demented.

pucca · 28/02/2007 21:29

My dd says trump lol

DrDaddy · 28/02/2007 21:29

Trod on a duck is another...

DrDaddy · 28/02/2007 21:29

Trod on a duck is another...

Surfermum · 28/02/2007 21:29

I don't think it's a word little ones should use. We parp too.

And I don't like dd using "bum" or "belly". It's bottom and tummy.

I love "whoops I stepped on a frog" .

Boco · 28/02/2007 21:30

air biscuit?

DeviousDaffodil · 28/02/2007 21:30

Touching cloth is when the turtles head pops out and then goes back in, but leaves his mark IFYKWIM!

DrDaddy · 28/02/2007 21:31

yes, turtle-necking...

sunnysideup · 28/02/2007 22:30

This thread is hysterical.

Amazed though that EVERYONE's child obviously feels the need to say what they've just done when they've farted. DS doesn't ever seem to feel the need to discuss it! sometimes he doesn't stop his flow of conversation, he just talks and you hear this huge PAAAAAAAAAAARP going on at the same time or sometimes, if it's an example of particular comic value, he just falls about laughing.

plummymummy · 28/02/2007 22:35

Oh ffs. Talk about anal

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 28/02/2007 22:36

When mine fart they either deny it was them if it stinks or just laugh hysterically. But it's a bit silly to mind the word fart tbh.

soph28 · 28/02/2007 22:36

my ds is almost 2 and has just started telling me he has done 'bubbles in nappy' !

He came up with this on his own so I guess that's what we'll call them for the time being.

and yes he obviously feels the need to tell me about it- who knows why!

StinkyPete · 28/02/2007 22:37

trump

MissGnomer · 28/02/2007 22:46

I don't like the word and wondered what we would teach our DD to say. She is 13 mths and has come up with her own word - she says 'bubble' whilst patting her tummy. She even says it when DP makes that noise from another room!

MissGnomer · 28/02/2007 22:48

How funny Soph! Just seen your post re 'bubbles in nappy'. Thought DD was unique for a mo!

sunnysideup · 28/02/2007 22:48

It totally mystifies me why any of the euphemisms are less offensive than the word itself, it passes me by, this one I'm afraid. Cannot see anything remotely offensive in the word fart.

MissGnomer · 28/02/2007 22:53

I agree it's odd that I don't find the severest of swear words offensive, but I inexplicably find 'fart' hard to say!

margo1974 · 28/02/2007 22:53

DD1 says she has made a noise from her bottom

I think that the word fart sounds quite harsh coming from the mouth of a 2 year old

ezridax · 28/02/2007 22:55

I don't find it offensive but we weren't allowed to say fart and would say trump. But we were allowed to say crap. Swings and roundabouts.
Although i must say i don't really want DS saying it, my DH says fart and he's from an ultra conservative family.
Glad to know that i'm not a complete weirdo - or should i say that i'm not alone in being a weirdo

simplycontrolfreaky · 28/02/2007 22:58

re op. yes. get over yourself. what do you call a spade? an earth moving implement? at what age is it ok to say fart?

bluejelly · 28/02/2007 23:00

So glad I didn't read this at work... my mother used to say 'poofty' -- god knows where that came from. We are definitely a farting household now though

pearlsasinger · 28/02/2007 23:08

Good old traditional Anglo-Saxon word, much cuter to hear a 2-year-old say 'Excuse my flatulence' though
