Well in his defence, he's not got a clue about anything at all.

amispartacus · 16/02/2017 19:58

Just wow. That's all.

I'm watching 100 Days on BBC News24 on a 30 min delay. Trump was unnecessarily combative about the questions considering they'd been screened beforehand. Anything really tricky was presumably pulled before the press conference.

PausingFlatly · 16/02/2017 20:13

Thank you, thank you for the transcript as well as the commentary.

In the spirit of avoiding spin and fake news, I know it's important to read the source material and not rely purely on you FAKE NEWS MNers.Grin But I'd really struggle to cope with the stereovision performance...

I don't want to get derailed into the whole mental health diagnosis thing again but it's been a long time since I worked with Older Adults but there are some very strong warning signs of the beginning of dementia. And the thought of a narcissist with dementia in the WH is scary to say the least.
Across I don't want to seem like I'm stalking you but you sound sound so lovely and I have so much sympathy with you and other Americans in your position. It must be awful for you Flowers

CussingQuim · 16/02/2017 20:19

We're just depressing ourselves by re-watching Charlie Brooker's Newswipe from last year - Brexit flashbacks, all that shite with Boris and Gove afterwards and "there is no plan, we had no plan". And all the Brexit bullshit since then.

And to think, at the time it felt unbelievable and like things couldn't get worse. Confused

merrymouse · 16/02/2017 20:20

So the reply to the question which was presumably on anti Semitic attacks was 'you are the evil media, I'm not going to let you finish your question, I'm not anti Semitic, I have a Jewish friend called Bibi'.

The question didn't sound as though it was about Trump personally - why was he not able to just condemn anti- semitism?

FarAwayHills · 16/02/2017 20:21

Fine-tuned machine Shock

He really is delusional

amispartacus · 16/02/2017 20:23

Did you see the reaction to Russia?

'Not good'.

But I'm not going to tell you anything.

Followed by his BBC banter

And that's bad enough when you just have 'words' to throw. Sad

BiglyBadgers · 16/02/2017 20:28

Oh my goodness gosh! Just read the catch up on this thread and that sounded amazing and terrifying. Good job to all those who watched so we don't have to Grin

coldcanary · 16/02/2017 20:28

I'm wondering if the BBC's 100 days programme will actually get to 100 days with the same POTUS...

Wrt Fox News, I wonder how long Shepard Smith will last, he's not too scared of calling Trump out on his treatment of the press, he gets some awful stick on social media about it from Trump supporters.

amispartacus · 16/02/2017 20:30

The sound quality is appalling. I can't hear the media questions #deliberate?

I had the same thoughts about dementia, too.
It's now said that Reagan started showing signs of his future dementia when he was in his very early 70s.
My folks are 4 yrs older than Trump & they get very tired quite easily. That's without only sleeping 5 hrs a night or whatever Trump thinks he can subsist on.

merrymouse · 16/02/2017 20:32

To the BBC

Interrupts John Soper's question : "Wait, wait, wait, I know who you are".

I think John Soper was trying to lighten the mood, but Trump sounded threatening.

He was lumping the BBC in with CNN and he doesn't sound jokey and friendly when he talks about CNN.

Timetogetup0630 · 16/02/2017 20:35

I initially thought all the ignorance and bluster during the election campaign was just for publicity purposes.
Afte the election, the horrid realisation dawned that yes, he is actually
thick, err I mean "Intellectual,y Challenged"
And deranged ......

woman12345 · 16/02/2017 20:36

We're a very powerful nuclear country and so are they. I have been briefed. And I can tell you one thing about a briefing that we're allowed to say because anybody that ever read the most basic book can say it, nuclear holocaust would be like no other.
Ummmm

Timetogetup0630 · 16/02/2017 20:37

My only claim to fame, I was at Universiry with Jon Sopel, so pleased he at least got called on for a question. Will be his last opportunity now Trump knows he is BBC.

BiglyBadgers · 16/02/2017 20:37

It is basically law that only the British are allowed to insult the BBC!

BiglyBadgers · 16/02/2017 20:38

because anybody that ever read the most basic book

...so not him then

Timetogetup0630 · 16/02/2017 20:40

Well we pay for it don't we Bigly ?

After 10 years living in the USA I came home sobbing with relief to listen to the BBC practically 24 hours a day.

peaceout · 16/02/2017 20:42

If he does have early signs of dementia there must be people close to him who have noticed his cognitive decline and have an idea of what the likely cause is?

merrymouse · 16/02/2017 20:42

Oops Sopel! Sorry John Sopel!

cozietoesie · 16/02/2017 20:43

No, not he I suspect, Bigly.
