In the interests of balance I think it only fair that there's one of these now and again.

Today MIL has sent a beautiful fruit cake from a National Trust book we got her a while ago.

It gets better though. She has very kindly offered to pick the DCs up from school three days a week with no strings so that I can work full time and we can get ourselves financially sorted.

She's a gem. My beloved DM died last year but my MIL's and DSM's kindness make life that but more bearable.

My exs mum is amazing. She helps me out with my son (her grandson) whenever needed.

She's happily help with my baby (not her grandchild) if I asked Grin

MrsJamin · 13/02/2017 21:39

I'm not sure what you're being unreasonable about but what a lovely MIL.

Doughnutsandrainbows · 13/02/2017 21:39

That's lovely... I was thinking just a moment ago we don't hear enough about the gems

December11 · 13/02/2017 21:39

Thats lovely :)

Mum2jenny · 13/02/2017 21:39

I personally can't believe that all MILs are evil bitches put on this planet to cause serious pain to DILs, although I have to admit I do know some.

Rugbyplayersarehot · 13/02/2017 21:40

My mil was kindness itself and I miss her daily.

I have my dgs 3 days a week to help out and buy my dil wine frequently. She's a real close friend and I love her.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 13/02/2017 21:48

Rugbyplayers if I live longer than my DM I intend to pay it forward Smile

MY MIL is fabulous. I absolutely adore her. She drops everything whenever I need her. I hate to see so many MIL's torn to shreds on here when there will be just as many that are as lovely as mine.

MyOtherNameIsTaken · 13/02/2017 22:16

I miss my lovely MIL she was such a kind sweet person! Smile

Piratefairy78 · 13/02/2017 22:17

My MIL is great too. She has my DC for us for 45 minutes each school morning. That makes the difference between me being able to work and not. She also went to the hospice regularly when my DM was dying, took photos of my DS to her within hours of him being born and held me when she passed. We get on well and I will truly miss her when she's gone. Hopefully that's a long time away.

sotiredbutworthit · 13/02/2017 22:19

I never met my MIL, she died a few years before I met my husband. By all accounts she was lovely and we would have got on really well. I feel like I missed out!

Rugbyplayersarehot · 13/02/2017 22:23

Ah that's nice jennifer good on you.

Some of the mils on here are bat shit crazy but there's millions of good ones too

PoorYorick · 13/02/2017 22:23

My MIL is kind hearted, giving and totally lovely.

Leeds2 · 13/02/2017 22:23

She sounds lovely!

oldperson1 · 13/02/2017 22:23

From a MIL thank you all for these lovely posts Flowers

Mulberry72 · 13/02/2017 22:25

Mine and MIL's relationship wasn't great the first few years DH and I were together, I even went NC for a year as her behaviour was so poor. Anyway we patched things up and now have a great relationship, she was really there for me when I lost my DM suddenly 18 months ago, she does lots with DS and will have him anytime I'm unwell (chronic illness), she really is a gem and I'm very, very fond of her.

ArriettyClock1 · 13/02/2017 22:25

My mil is lovely; she's kind, helpful and never interferes.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/02/2017 22:26

YANBU - and your MIL sounds lovely.

I still miss my MIL - she was much easier to get along with than my own mum, was endlessly supportive of me and dh as parents and as a couple, and was a truly wonderful grandmother.

Bastard cancer took her, two years ago, and I still miss her so, so much.

Thattimeofyearagain · 13/02/2017 22:29

I loved my mil and miss her Flowers. She was warm, welcoming, supportive and inclusive of me and my parents. I can only hope to be half the mil she was Smile

TheProblemOfSusan · 13/02/2017 22:33

Problem is that we generally only hear from the DILs of the awful ones. I'm sure many of us have lovely/perfectly nice/passably pleasant ones. My MIL is really great too. It makes me really feel for the people who have difficulty with theirs whilst feeling really lucky for myself.

Mind you I've no kids yet...

mumofthemonsters808 · 13/02/2017 22:36

IT makes a welcome change to read such a lovely post about a MIL.Sometimes on here, they can't do right for doing wrong, Im glad you have a good relationship.

NancyJoan · 13/02/2017 22:37

My MIL is lovely-to me. BIL's wife, on the other hand would struggle to find a single nice thing to say about her. The feeling is mutual (and I'm with MIL). Two sides, always.
