To want to spend time with DP in the evenings?

Genuinely don't know if I'm being UR or not but here goes...

Back story - DP and I both work full time, very long hours and have a toddler. Week days are spent working until 6 then playing with/bathing DD and putting her to bed. Then cooking cleaning washing emails and general household things that never seem to end.

Dp has always been into fitness and has all the work out stuff, weights benches etc. At home. In November time his friend decided he wanted to bulk up so dp has invited him over to work out with him (was supposed to be for a week then friend would do it at home once he knows a workout plan)

Anyway we have a small house and the only space to work out is our living room so now every single weeknight Monday- Friday DPs friend comes over at 9 and they work out in the living room (It's been 3 months!!)

I wake up at 6 and leave the house at 7.30am so by the time they are finished is late enough for me and I end up asleep before they are done, with them being downstairs I am demoted to the bedroom every week night and I miss doing normal things like watching tv/being with dp and just being able to have some wind down time in my own living room.

He says I am BU to want him to stop as this is his only hobby and he likes doing it with his friend as they can help each other with weights etc but I really don't like it and feel like I should be able to go in my living room after work without him and not feel like I'm invading on him and his friend.

I've told them to join a gym but he doesn't want to do that, I've suggested going to friends house but dp doesn't want to drive there and back every night.

I feel like I'm being a cow and irrational but I just want my week nights back!

Go out and leave him with the toddler.

OR

When friend comes around open the door to him in some sexy undies and silky robe and say 'sorry me and dp have plans tonight I'm sure you understand'. Be prepared for dp to moan but he will look like a right dick.

He sounds like a very unpleasant person. Is this the person you want in your life?

TeaCake5 · 13/02/2017 22:09

Fuck that response OP.

Sounds like he wants to live the life of a single bloke - perhaps you should make him

Ohyesiam · 13/02/2017 22:14

WT actual F? Yanbu.

kitXi · 13/02/2017 23:09

Wow, I'm really sorry OP that's not what you wanted to hear. But in a way it's helpful. He could have bullshitted his way out of it, "compromised" on maybe three nights then it would slowly creep back up. This way he's given you a solid answer - he doesn't give a fuck what you want or what makes you happy, he just wants to do this and he won't let you, his partner and mother of his child, stand in the way.
He wants you to feel guilty and ashamed of your apparent laziness so you quietly let him get on with what he wants to do. Are you going to do that?

pinkyredrose · 13/02/2017 23:25

Fuck me he's a wanker!!!! I'd be asking him to.move out at this point, he obviously thinks it's ok to treat you with disdain and contempt. Maybe he could move in with his mate as he seems to only want his company.

How fantastic a person can he be for cooking n looking after his own kid? Does he think you're amazing when you do this? It's not something to be amazingly proud of, it's what you do when you have a family.

How much family life is he partaking in if he's spending evenings admiring himself. What would happen if you went downstairs n put a film on?

It's like you're a single parent.

Ohdearducks · 13/02/2017 23:57

What a prick, go and park yourself in the living room tonight or tomorrow night. Netflix, pizza and wine and do not move, in fact set up a fucking bed of sofa cushions and star fish the fucking floor! Do not give in! Fucking sleep there if you have to!

RoboticSealpup · 14/02/2017 10:43

Are you sure this guy's just a friend? I mean, who wants to hang out with a friend five nights a week? I wouldn't even want to see my BFF that often if I had one

ofshoes · 14/02/2017 11:53

Are you sure this guy's just a friend

I was thinking the same thing unfortunately, though my judgement may be clouded by the fact that body building seems just hugely homoerotic to me anyway.

What an utter prick!
