DD's away with her dad and DP will be out this evening so I'm at a lose end. I could ask a friend to go with me but I'm a bit flat and not great company. I really want to see Lion and tonight's a good opportunity. Would it be really sad to go on my own?Blush

Oh wait, no, it is fine ot do thing on your own.

This comes up on here all the time. Every single time I am baffled. IN WHAT UNIVERSE IS THIS WEIRD???

If they do what Kiroro describes, maybe this will help

Thanks for those helpful last two comments Hmm
For some people doing something alone is actually a really big deal. I've never done it before. I have friendship issues. I hate doing anything that might make me stand out for any reason and this is one of those occasions where I feel like I'd be 'noticed'... even if it will be dark. I'll still be buying a single ticket on my own. I'm not looking for permission, I'm looking for reassurance.
Sad

Go, I go all the time on my own. It's also a great film.

I can't understand the appeal of going with someone else really Grin Just make sure you pay a bit extra and get the comfy seats rather than the standard ones, if your cinema does them.

glass of wine, bag of choc

Where do you get wine at a cinema?!

Vue sell alcohol.

I took my son to one of their live theatre broad casts and we even got an old fashioned drinks and sets trolley brought round.

We get wine at mine. In fact I think I'll have a prosecco (and hope I don't fall asleep)

Do it. I do anything I want to on my own. I particularly love going on holiday alone. Can't wait till my next jaunt!

I have an unlimited card and go on my own at least once a month. Fab time alone.

OP, I wasn't being snide, I was being encouraging. Going to see a film alone is perfect. Choose a film to your taste only , sit at exactly the distance from the screen you prefer, don't share your beautiful deli sandwich and wine with anyone, stay till the end of the credits because you want to see the locations. I prefer it, personally. I get to see friends so seldom that it's a waste sitting in the dark beside them.

I saw La La Land by myself in the afternoon last week, and I reckon more people were alone than together.

Thank you Rough. Sorry, feeling a little sensitive today.

I go to the cinema alone a lot. I want to see the films I want to see when I want to see them. No shame

I love getting wine too 🍷

I went for the first time on my own a few weeks ago. I thought I'd be the weirdo with no friends everyone was pointing at. But actually it was fine. Bought my ticket online, and bought a whole tub of popcorn just for me.
A trip to the cinema without DCs is bliss.

I love going to the cinema solo. And other people are so caught up in their own worlds or thoughts they barely notice you.

Enjoy Smile

I went on my own to watch les miserables. Was sat blubbing amongst lots of elderly peeps and then went back the next day to watch something else alone too...that was a fabulous annual leave week Grin

Bring tissues for Lion. I've been a couple of times alone - felt a bit odd but it was fine

I haven't seen Lion yet but several friends say I must! Some have also seen LaLa Land and reckon Lion is much better.
Enjoy!🍸

Go! I often do. Lovely. (Though I wouldnt do the 9pm showing on a saturday night as I'd feel like a saddo...) I also go out for meals on my own as I got used to it travelling on my own - but not tomorrow night obvs.... Ha! That would be really hilariously sad. Though weeping, with a rose between my teeth, whilst couples eat around me would be quite funny....

Hope you enjoy Lion. I went to see it a few days ago on my own, brilliant film. Go a lot on my own to the cinema, love it.

I saw lion on my own last week - but during the day in my day off. Amazing film - take tissues.

A bit late to the party here but do it, do it, do it! When I was younger I hated doing anything on my own, especially things I perceived as social activities like the theatre, cinema, eating out. Now I love and look forward to it! I'm sure you will too. Have a prosecco in the bar, do some people watching first. Hope you enjoy it
