to think dog owners shouldn't be allowed to keep their dog

If they don't pick up their shit?

This has probably been done to death but it seriously enrages me so much when I see big piles of shit on the ground or someone walking away after their dog has taken a massive dump somewhere.

Yesterday I only realised I stood in some after the buckle of my baby's sling touched my shoe and I could smell it when putting her into it. Had to spend ages cleaning it and my shoe, plus the pedals in my car Sad Angry Fucking horrible.

If all the dog owners picked up all their dog poo my poor staffy would miss his tasty snacks. Seriously though people need to PICK IT UP. And
although my dog does a public service in eating it when he gets the chance I do try to avoid it because he then comes home and licks the furniture.
I don't think that banning them from owning a dog would be a good idea because of the large number of dogs needing re-homing. A ban on breeding except for working dogs is needed though.

Maybe everyone thinks they pick it all up but fails to spot a cunning night time poo? I'm imagining every owner going for a walk the following morning and tutting severely about the irresponsible dogwalker who always leaves a poo in their way.

Okay, but taking the emotion out of it and trying to find an actual solution: this won't work.

If you don't currently have the capacity to catch people and give them a fine, how are you going to catch them and remove their dogs?

Taking their dogs off them would just lead to an even bigger rehoming crisis than already exists. I would give them relevent community service - they have to pick up x kgs of dog shit from their neighbourhood. My area is usually very good but deteriorates terribly when the days get shorter. I expect it's a mix of people who either can't see their dog shitting, or can't see the resultant shit to bag it, and those who just choose to be ignorant under the cover of darkness. The latter are a lost cause but the former could just buy a frigging torch. Most nights i end up bagging 5 or 6 shits more than my own dog's.

I own a dog and HATE HATE HATE the lazy twats who don't clean up after their dogs - especially as we have a gazillion bins round here that the bags can be put in so you don't have to carry it far.

In answer to the upset tum question - I had a guy knock on the door recently and ask for a bag and a jug of water as his dog had pooed outside my house - he picked up what he could and rinsed the rest into the gutter as best he could. Kudos to him!

Night time poo problem is easily solved by torches. We have torches which fit on our torch and use our phone torches too. No excuses.
