You are right that the president can choose a VP, but the choice has to be confirmed by Congress. My guess is that Bannon would have trouble being confirmed.

But I think that Pence will emerge ok from this. Most reporting indicates that he got his info from Flynn and had no separate independent knowledge of what Flynn discussed. I'm no Pence fan, but he does seem to have a pretty decent reputation for credibility.

basically, she stated she had Native American heritage based on family lore (stories passed down through her family for years), but there was no proof (and it really cannot be proven or disproven, to be honest). He has stated she doesn't - even though he's never proven she doesn't. She has been very clear her statement was based on family lore and not tribal membership.
