..to let our puppy slep on the bed tonight?

DH is away, 24 hrs in A and E only had 30 mins left, we're very snuggly and its cold to get out of bed!

It's only one night? Surely? Isn't having puppy snuggles like having newborn snuggles?

Our collie sleeps on the bed every night except in the height of summer...she's 13 Grin

I need to take my dog down in a minute. The problem is, he's dozing quietly now, but if I let him stay, at some point he'd have to jump off the bed for a good ear shake (which is ridiculously noisy). And then he would pretend he couldn't get back up and be fussing to be lifted. And then he'd probably either have a paw- washing session or snuffly breathing or suchlike (he doesn't really snore but huffs intermittently.) And then after I'd dropped off he'd repeat the performance.

Are pugs quiet sleepers? Most short-nosed dogs are liable to snore, aren't they?

This ridiculous creature sleeps on our bed every night. When we first brought him home from the rescue centre, I wasn't even going to let him get on the sofas. Hahaha! That lasted about 5 minutes. We have a superking bed and dog is quite diddy so everyone fits ok. :)

Do it. Ours sleeps in our bed, under the covers. Our 2 year old often sleeps in with us too - very cozy bed!!

FWIW DH was VERY anti-dog in bed, I think it took 5 weeks for him to break and now he's the one that gives up most of his side of the bed for the dog!!

This is how my evenings look until dh gets in and chucks them all downstairs. There's often a five year old child in the mix too.

YANBU. I love having our dog cuddled up at the bottom of the bed. They love it too so it's win win

19lottie82 · 07/02/2017 22:33

I love my wee feline pal sleeping on my bed...... in fact I take the huff on the odd time she decides to sleep under the bed instead of on top of it!

(She's just had a cyst removed, hence her wee bald belly! Sad)

Keep the dog in the bed with you til Thursday and let DH be the bad daddy when he comes back and turfs him out Grin

We have cats - we bought a king size bed for this reason!

sotiredbutworthit · 07/02/2017 22:36

Is love to but the idiots would pee on it!

OMG cute! Let the pug sleep on the bed, have a snuggle, it'll be lovely. Loving all the cosy dog pictures!

TheoriginalLEM · 07/02/2017 22:42

yeah. only one night...thats what we said when we brought ddog2 home from the dogs trust. That was 5 years ago and yep, i just hold the covers up for him so he can get comfy and somehow still manage to hog the duvet. We had never let ddog1 on the bed but of course he wanted a piece of the action so niw me and Dp sleep with one dog in the bed and one on! its not great duvet dynamics let me tell you..

but yeah. that little bundle of lovely would be snuggled right next to me. It has the advantage if feet warming

Wadingthroughsoup · 07/02/2017 22:49

'Duvet dynamics' 😂

Bunnyfuller · 07/02/2017 22:49

Loving the doggy bed pics.

Pugs do snore so do I but he actually did get too hot.

But I have a feeling I will probably cave next time. DHs job takes him away most weekdays. I need a really cold snap to persuade him it's ok (he didn't flip when I said I brought him up for tv snuggle time, I get in bed as soon as DCs down for the night as I'm a lazy scutter who loves her bed it seems silly sitting downstairs on my own for the sake of it.

Thank you all, for the resounding yes. He is yummy, isn't he?!

I'm almost as lax as they come regarding dog discipline. However the one rule I have never broken is sleeping in our bedroom overnight. During the day is fine but no, he sleeps downstairs ( usually on the spare bed after politely pretending to settle in his own bed in the kitchen).

I just wouldn't set the precedent. If you do it once it's so reasonable of him to expect it in the future. My boy waits until dh gets up and leaves for work and then tiptoes in and hops up like an illicit lover. We then have a cuddle and settle down. Works for us.

RosaRosaRose · 07/02/2017 23:07

Mine has her own bed on the for next to mine. I'd really miss her snuffling in the night if she wasn't there. When my daughters had gone home after Christmas, she decided to sleep on the sofa in the sitting room for two nights. Like she wanted them back - having been cuddled solidly for three days on it. I was lost without her!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/02/2017 23:10

Oh look at that little cuddle me face.
He needs his snuggles off his mummy.

Hes gorgeous.

harasas · 07/02/2017 23:16

Wadingthroughsoup gorgeous doggie Smile

thebakerwithboobs · 07/02/2017 23:23

I am a huge dog lover and ours is the apple of my eye (my favourite childGrin) but may I politely ask those of you who have husbands and dogs in your bed....do the dogs not, erm, stifle marital relations somewhat? I'm not sure I could put on my best show if I was not sure if the panting I could hear was the dog or my old man! And dogs kind of stare....? No?

Bellabelloo · 07/02/2017 23:27

Aaaw, I love my bedtime and morning cuddles with my dog in bed!

jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 07/02/2017 23:32

My rule is "on" the bed not "in" it, so he sleeps on top of the duvet on hubby's side when he's away and when he's home he sleeps between us (around by my knees).

We have a kingsize here, at hubby's flat we have a double and when we go camping we have a double airbed .... dog still sleeps inbetween us.

He's a Westie and very adept at edging hubby over to the edge so he has more room Smile

SallyGinnamon · 07/02/2017 23:39

Once he's joined you it's really hard to change back. I succumbed when DH was away on a cold night....8 years ago!

We both love having him fortunately.

Out2pasture · 07/02/2017 23:40

I've posted about this before. our adorable snuggly bull dog puppy was in bed with me.
dh startled the dog (accidently rustling some nylon type fabric). the pup then tore across the head of the bed, gouging my eye with his claw.
yes I nearly lost my eye, it's permanently affected my vision, and I spent several hours in the emerg dept being treated for it.
:( no puppies in bed
