Honest opinion, am I too old for jeans with rips at the knee?

As my username suggests, I am 50. I posted a wee while ago about jeans sizings. I've just got a pair delivered from Next and they fit a treat. However, they have rips at the knees. Would I be a bit mutton dressed as lamb wearing them?

Definitely not too old!! Whatever you wear ensure it's the right size, shape and style for you and wear it confidently!

Trifleorbust · 05/02/2017 16:51

Wear what you like but I have to say I imagine they would look a bit cheap on a woman of mature years.

EastMidsMummy · 05/02/2017 17:08

50?! I thought you were going to say at least half that! You're way too old. They look dumb on everyone, but teenagers are at least young enough not to know better.

EmeraldScorn · 05/02/2017 17:10

"Destroyed" jeans are the future, "Ripped" jeans are horrible on any age in my opinion; I have quite a few pairs of "Destroyed" jeans and I'm 31 - My nieces think and regularly tell me that "Jeans are for young people", I disagree of course.

OP wear whatever you are happy with/comfortable in!

Floisme · 05/02/2017 17:14

Much as I dislike them on all ages, I think a middle aged woman has as much right to look ridiculous as a young woman if she wants to.

Fashion is just a bit of fun and it should be for anyone who wants to join in.

Crankycunt · 05/02/2017 17:14

If you like them, and feel confident in them, then wear them. It really doesn't matter what other people think.

I'm 31, I wore mine today with a hoodie and converse trainers, I probably looked like a right tramp, but I was comfortable zipping around town doing some errands.

Wear the bloody jeans Grin

Floisme · 05/02/2017 17:15

and Grin at jeans are for young people.

Dahlietta · 05/02/2017 17:17

Yup, pre-ripped jeans are just really naff. They're a bit like buying pre-muddied trainers (please tell me you can't do that). If they're ancient jeans that have gone through at the knee, that's a different matter.

Ilovewillow · 05/02/2017 17:17

If you feel good in them go for it! I wouldn't but it's not an age thing I have chubby knees!

Crumbs1 · 05/02/2017 17:21

You are joking? My 24 year old is too old for them. How mutton would they look? Seriously.

Dunkling · 05/02/2017 17:27

47 and wore them today.

pilates · 05/02/2017 17:29

If you have nice slim legs, then yes.

I don't personally like them.

LizzieMacQueen · 05/02/2017 17:54

Depends totally on what you're wearing them with ( and I include how much makeup and hair products in that too).

MrsMarigold · 05/02/2017 18:11

I think they are fine, but would hate feeling so chilly. (I love nothing more a vest).

KatieScarlett · 05/02/2017 18:15

I want to get out the darning needles or maybe a nice patch?

Amaried · 05/02/2017 18:49

Sorry, think not!

mismo · 05/02/2017 19:00

I'm 62 and wear ripped jeans, why not, if they look ok, I'm small and slim and they suit me, just slit at the knees, nothing too dramatic, I doubt anyone else notices or cares to be honest.

ppeatfruit · 06/02/2017 10:26

dailyshite It wasn't the outfit on Ms Kendal so much (though I still think those jeans look pathetic on ANYONE} She has (sadly) completely changed her face in a bid to fool time and it ain't gonna happen.

Floisme I know it's disapproved of to say LOL on here but your post really made me LOL !!!!

ToastyFingers · 06/02/2017 20:21

I'm over 21 and wear ripped jeans. I have done since being about 13 and a punk.
Most of my outrageous fashion sense has been toned down but I can't resist ripped jeans or band t-shirts.

ILoveDolly · 06/02/2017 20:28

My fave jeans are now ripped at the knee and still looking. In fact I love it. I went super frumpy in my 30s what was I thinking. you should just wear whatever you want

RhiWrites · 09/02/2017 18:11

If I wanted them, I'd get them. Part of the privilege of being a grown up is wearing what you want!

PopcornBits · 09/02/2017 18:26

Go ahead and wear them who cares what people think or say enjoy them!
