A few years ago I had invited another lady in my village (the new Vicar's wife) around for a cuppa - it was the first time she had ever been to my house. During her visit, the phone rang and a person asked for the Reverend Baker. I told them they had the wrong number but as it so happened the Vicar's wife was currently sitting in my living room and I was able to pass the phone over to her! Very freaky considering our telephone numbers were quite different and she lived the total other side of the village!

My Mom and I were very close (bit of codependency really) She was the mainstay of helping me bring my 4 up as I was in a difficult abusive relationship, which I finally got out of. She was there through everything. I met and happily remarried the man I have been with 14 plus years.

When Mom passed in 2010 some weird things started happening. 1 of those was the Christmas after a parcel arrived for us which we hadn't ordered. We had never used the company in the past either. It contained Christmas decorations: a small tree, angels, lights and tree decs.

I rang the company who couldn't understand how and why we had got it as the person it was meant for lived the other side of the company.

The upshot was they told us to keep it and they would sort out a new order for the real purchaser.

I have always said it was Mom's way of letting her know she is still around. Every Christmas something unusual always happens around this time which has to be Mom as none of them make any earthly sense

I go to an exploring faith groups through my church.
We were talking about how some people thank God for giving them a parking space just when they need one and how God doesn't really work like that.
After the group I went to Waitrose, the car park was completely full, and as I went round the corner the car in the space nearest to the door reversed out in front of me and I parked there !
Coincidence or God?

Not God Halo

A couple of years ago myself dh and dd went to Norway to visit my brother and his family for the first time. Beautiful wooden house in the middle of nowhere just a few other houses dotted here and there.
That night was thinking how nice this wooden house was and looking around noticed the smoke alarm holders on the wall didn't actually have smoke alarms in them.
The next day I shit you not at around 8am an electrical fault started a fire in the entrance to the house. The loft was empty and it soon engulfed the roof. The first thing we knew of a fire was my 2 year shouting excitedly to come and look at the big black clouds around the house! We are lucky it didn't happen while we were all asleep

I moved to London to go to University and started living in a shared house. I found the girl who lived in the room before me, was the fiancée of my boyfriends best mate, back in Nottingham.

On vacation in a small island in the Caribbean many years ago. Husband had taken the wrong road on our island tour so we ended up at a completely different beach and hotel from the one we had set out to visit. Children needed food, drink and a swim. They headed for the water, we headed to the beach bar and while ordering I heard the voice of the man everyone in my group of friends had expected me to marry.
He was on his honeymoon and they were waiting for the taxi to the airport for the journey home.
Suffering from foot in mouth disease I commented, after being introduced to the wife, that I had always expected to be there on his honeymoon. Apparently she didn't speak to him on the eight hour flight home as she believed he had engineered our meeting.
Yes I feel badly about my comment and do not deserve forgiveness.Blush

On holiday in Greece we met a family who it turned out lived 10 mins away from us, my DH and her had the same job, we had got married on the same day in the same year and the woman and I had the same maiden name. We'd also both holidayed in the same little village in Portugal a few years earlier.

Curioushorse · 05/02/2017 20:48

I taught for a while in Africa (being deliberately vague!).

I moved back to the Uk and got a job in London. One of the first students I saw there? New boy who'd just moved from same school in Africa.

It's particularly unlikely given the location of the schools (one very poor and 'bottom of the heap' and one 'highly privileged elite'). Child's parents, who'd been uber rich and powerful had fallen out of favour with the dictatorial regime. He'd fled in the middle of the night with nothing, and ended up in an inner London comp because his parents claimed asylum here.

When children were young we went on family holiday at Easter to Tenerife and our sons played with the boys from another family staying at our hotel. The following year we went to Menorca in the summer and the same family were there in the same hotel. All our kids were delighted.

lemureyes · 05/02/2017 20:55

Mine are dates:
In the same month (different years for some)
Got engaged on 6th
Birthday on 8th
Passed driving test on 9th
Found out I was pregnant on 11th
Started high school on 18th

First bundle of joy due on wedding anniversary
Great-grandfather born 100 years before me (only to the year)

StampyIsMyBoyfriend · 05/02/2017 21:00

Our wedding day... mum's funeral 2 months to the day. Found out I was pregnant 2 months to the day of her death.

Annie1919 · 05/02/2017 21:01

I have an unusual full name and was found on FB by my namesake in Canada. It turns out we are both married to men from the same town on a small Caribbean island! There were lots of other smaller coincidences, we discovered as we emailed each other too.

sarahsg147 · 05/02/2017 21:11

One of my best school friends and I were going to New Zealand independently of each other 3 weeks apart. Whilst we were there we both got pulled over on a remote road at the same spot by the same policeman and given speeding fines 😬

CantThinkOfWittyUsername · 05/02/2017 21:15

My DH and i share a birthday, as do our dms!

Sausagesandroses · 05/02/2017 21:15

Not me but one of my best friends. Her parents and sister died in a car accident which also left her fighting for her life and with a number of disabilities to this day. Her dd was born on the same day the accident happened, 20 years later.

BikeRunSki · 05/02/2017 21:21

When I was in sixth form, at a huge inner London comp, a new girl came to my school. We had the same birthday. I went home and told my mum, who joked "well if she's got a twin sister and her mum's called X, then she was born in the same hospital at the same time as you".

The new girl went home and told her mum who replied "well if she was 2 months early and her mum's called Z, then she was born in the same hospital at the same time as you".

Ours mum's were hospital room mates together with their "vulnerable" babies 16 years previously.

Worked in a shop in my small home town when I was 15 and not for long. Meet dh almost 6 years later in my uni town 150 miles away. Dh says he remembers me serving him in the shop when I was 15, I worked there a matter of months and didn't even mention it to dh as it was just a small spar type shop with an ice cream parlour. He was definitely there at the right time too. I don't remember him though sadly.

WobblyLondoner · 05/02/2017 21:29

On holiday in Greece, meet a guy who it grew up in the same suburb in Scotland that my mother came from. Turned out he not only knew my grandparents (he delivered their paper) but that his sister worked in the nursing home they had since moved into. Worked all that out on night one.

Night two we realised he'd visited my parents' house where I grew up (which was several 100 miles away and not in Scotland) when visiting a college there. As part of his job my dad did outreach work and had gone to visit the area my mum grew up in to encourage more applicants, and he'd been one of them.

We had a v brief relationship (kind of had to after that!) but it fizzled out! Still makes me laugh though.

Jaxhog · 05/02/2017 21:41

I went on hols to Denver a few years ago. In a handbag shop (mine had broken), I got chatting to the girl behind the counter. She had an English accent, so we got talking about where we lived etc. Turned out, we'd been at school together. Spooky!

eyess · 05/02/2017 21:43

Work colleague was doing done online banking at lunch, checking her savings account, I randomly decided to check mine as well, we both had £50.79 exactly in our totally separate savings accounts with different banks and everything.

Jaxhog · 05/02/2017 21:47

Not to mention the two times my DH and I have sat on a plane behind people we used to work with. One each. (no, we don't work for an airline!)

AbstractLucas · 05/02/2017 21:48

I was in care as a child then moved over 100 miles away to go to uni aged 18. After uni etc worked in social services, with vulnerable families. Went on the 1st visit to a new family one day with another social worker I'd never met before - he explained he'd known this young mum when she was a child in care, and that he'd coincidentally been assigned to her now, as social worker for her children, despite her having moved from where she grew up and him having moved around a bit too. He laughed about what were the odds of them meeting again ten years after knowing each other in same town as I grew up in. I double checked I'd heard right - I had - and told him that to add to the weirdness I came from that town too. I asked if he knew of the children's home I'd been in - he did. He'd placed the mum there when one of her foster placements had broken down, and double checking the dates it turned out that the mum and I had been there at the same time. I had to switch off her case even though I didn't have any memory of her, but job culture meant I wasn't to explain why. Chatted to the social worker the next day and asked if he knew a specific social worker (whose first case I'd been, way back when), and they job shared - actually shared a desk during the time she was my social worker.
Weird.

The biggest coincidental story I know, isn't actually my own but a dear elderly neighbour of mine's...

Her mother sadly died during childbirth of her youngest sister (she already had an older sister and brother). Her father couldn't cope raising 3 children and a newborn so he put the baby girl up for adoption. All 3 siblings often thought about their baby sister but didn't look for her in fear of upsetting their father. Fast forward to when they were all adults - a first cousin of theirs moved to S.Africa and went for a job interview there. Whilst he was being interviewed, the Employer asked where he came from so he replied with the town name in England. The Employer said "Oh that happens to be the town my wife was born in, but she didn't grow up there as she was adopted." The cousin replied "How funny, my cousin was adopted as a baby." After more delving it turns out that his future Empoyer was in fact married to his cousin and was my neigbour's long lost sister who had moved to S.Africa when she got married!

The coincidences didn't stop there as it turned out that the adopted sister had a daughter with the same name as her brother, and her son was born on the exact same day that her eldest sister unfortunately lost a young son on who had the same name!

Tubbyinthehottub · 05/02/2017 21:54

I was viewing a house and went there at the agreed time. An estate agent was there and said "Hi, Tubby?" so I said yes hi and she started leading towards some some stairs to a flat. Turned out she was from a different estate agency meeting another lady called Tubby at the same time showing a property 2m away!
