To ask if DH's shower routine is as mad as I think?

My dh is slightly obsessive about being 'green'. We recycle, compost, walk short journeys etc.

However, his greatest obsession concerns the wasting of water. To that end, when he showers, he will turn off the water while he's lathering up. He says it saves water. I say any savings are negated by the fact the shower will have to warm up again and the boiler will have to do this twice.

WIBU to suggest this is bonkers?

Why would you be complacent about your kids squandering natural resources? There's just no need for it.

We have an electric shower but it needs to be running a couple of minutes for the temperature to regulate, so turning water off wouldn't save any water as good have to step out to avoid freezing then scalding water.

I do it when listening out for a delivery etc but more often when there isn't much hot water. Don't think it woukd cross the minds of the rest of the family. In the summer it's not a problem at all.

In the 5 minute shower I get in the morning I want the water on all the time. Life is too short to worry about the small amount of water I might save.

I used to live on a narrowboat with quite a small water tank and would do this regularly: shower on to get wet, shower off, gel to hair and foam to body, shower on and rinse. Yes it saves water.
