Did you note the whole "Commander" thing to Angry Spice

I did - I see he is in the Naval Reserve.

It's like PMQs. Planted questions.

If anyone has time, can I suggest reading a few of these essays? I know they are old, but set the background for the current state of affairs.

amispartacus · 01/02/2017 22:21

The Skype Questions - since when did journalists start their question speaking as politicians?

The Senate confirmed a Sec of State who got the Order of Friendship Award from a Russian dictator. Roll that around in your head a minute.

GingerIvy · 01/02/2017 22:28

I suspect that it was an attempt to regain some dignity. You could tell he was prepared for it - the fake modesty act. It's a sure sign he's getting tired of being treated like a joke.

I wonder if anyone has explained to him yet that Frederick Douglass is dead. Has been for years. On the other hand, I wonder if anyone else surrounding Trump is aware of that either. Grin

space83 · 01/02/2017 22:31

@GingerIvy hang about did you say Rosneft from that tweet?? Forget Kushner. Tillerson, as the new secretary of state...I'm only slightly obsessing over it but something didn't sit right about the whole thing. Seriously, binging Tillerson Trump Rosneft comes up with the Christopher Steele dossier info, Cayman Islands and off shore accounts. Whatever is said re Glencore and QIA holdings the amounts didn't add up but.....exxonmobil were involved with Rosneft and Russian sanctions effectively left that dead in the water, until now. Ok he's no longer CEO but its a helluva coincidence? Maybe its conspiracy theory gone crackers, maybe speculation, its not alternative facts though. Its all available to view. Sorry couldn't help but butt in with that just because it was so so near to when I posted re about it on the last thread and got shot down about it.

amispartacus · 01/02/2017 22:36

Do you know who said this.

One may dislike Hitler's system and yet admire his patriotic achievement. If our country were defeated, I hope we should find a champion as admirable to restore our courage and lead us back to our place among the nations."

Clue - it's not Donald Trump.

Shock that is terrifying! Who said it?

GingerIvy · 01/02/2017 22:38

Yeah. Look at @funder on twitter. (Scott Dworkin) LOTS of info on there.

ZebraOwl · 01/02/2017 22:38

GingerIvy

It's the perfect time for someone to set themselves up as Douglass on Twitter though. And start claiming extraordinary things. (Nothing disrespectful to his memory, obviously!) You know people would go with it for the craic & I bet that eejit could be got to believe some of it, if only for a while...

HoHumming · 01/02/2017 22:39

That sent shivers down my spine.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 01/02/2017 22:41

Was it Bannon, Spartacus?

Deadsouls · 01/02/2017 22:41

I've been watching Trevor Noah on The daily show (YouTube). Humour is getting me through this madness

amispartacus · 01/02/2017 22:41

that is terrifying! Who said it?

The full quote is here. It's Winston Churchill

To feel deep concern about the armed power of Germany is in no way derogatory to Germany. On the contrary, it is a tribute to the wonderful and terrible strength which Germany exerted in the Great War, when almost single-handed she fought nearly all the world and nearly beat them. Naturally, when a people who have shown such magnificent military qualities are arming night and day, its neighbours, who bear the scars of previous conflicts, must be anxious and ought to be vigilant.

One may dislike Hitler’s system and yet admire his patriotic achievement. If our country were defeated I hope we should find a champion as indomitable to restore our courage and lead us back to our place among the nations. I have on more than one occasion made my appeal in public that the Führer of Germany should now become the Hitler of peace.

space83 · 01/02/2017 22:43

@ami yeah, odd isn't it that Churchill wrote something like that?

Weedsnseeds1 · 01/02/2017 22:43

That was Churchill I believe. However there was a bit more context to it.

amispartacus · 01/02/2017 22:43

The date was 1937...

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 01/02/2017 22:44

The date is significant.

space83 · 01/02/2017 22:44

Its from his foreign office article in response to the German press. I think.

Roussette · 01/02/2017 22:44

Has to be Bannon said that Ami.

Having watched lots of Spicer press conferences, I do worry the journos are getting complacent and losing their edge, the questioning seems more tame and they seem a bit more arse licking to him...

I think they're getting simply tired, Roussette.
