I just needed to post this to check my sanity because I read it and felt drunk (I didn't read the whole thing, just the overview and bits in bold, then I needed a lie down).

Wowers, they want a lot for no reward, don't they

Lumberries · 31/01/2017 16:13

Someone who will be constantly challenged.

ooooh i have no doubt whoever wrote that ad is extremely challenging....

RB68 · 31/01/2017 16:13

That has given me a good laugh

  1. the London New York Halifax thing
  2. The demands of the job and the salary "gap"
  3. The length of the demands
  4. The general arsiness
  5. They clearly have not read the book.....
TheSecondOfHerName · 31/01/2017 16:14

I was unable to get past the misuse of capital letters, and had to stop reading.

Hoppinggreen · 31/01/2017 16:14

Halifax?
We don't go in for such wankery in Halifax, no hipsters here. They must have got lost on the way to Manchester

Hoppinggreen · 31/01/2017 16:17

The Directors have forrin names - maybe it loses in translation?

Hoppinggreen · 31/01/2017 16:19

Shitty area of Halifax too - yes, there ARE nice parts

MrsFrisbyMouse · 31/01/2017 16:19

Wow. Any decent proactive person will give this as wide a berth as possible!!! Why on earth would anyone with the required skill set want to do this for free...

DoloresVanCartier · 31/01/2017 16:21

Aw what have I missed? When I click on the link it t says job not found!!

Bunnyfuller · 31/01/2017 16:23

Is there an advert for a 'girl on a train' lead character type? I'd prob stand a chance at that one...

DontTouchTheMoustache · 31/01/2017 16:23

Mrsfrisby I suspect it is because Halifax is such a high paced, competitive job market. Like London. Or New York. Apparently.

I thought these unpaid internships were going to be made illegal? I thought they had to pay them the mimimum wage? I'd be curious to know how many of these interns get a job with the company after they finish their internship.

That specific role is a lot of responsibility for no pay. Morally I think it's wrong. Very.

CruCru · 31/01/2017 16:23

Gosh, they don't half want a lot, given that the position isn't actually paid.

languagelearner · 31/01/2017 16:24

Is it for an unpaid job? Hmm

akkakk · 31/01/2017 16:24

If you don't want so pressured a job - I will happily employ lots of people at that salary Grin would make me lots of profit to go and selfishly spend on myself while they all bankrupt themselves... I think in the old days it was called being a slave!

DontTouchTheMoustache · 31/01/2017 16:26

dolores these are the highlights, followed by the longest list of skills and attributes I've ever seen.

I have studied job analysis at masters level. I've read that ad twice and have no idea what it is...

Maybe I'm just too old?

TheProblemOfSusan · 31/01/2017 16:28

That's fucking ridiculous. You do see these wanky job ads in start ups but that's taking the piss. If they seriously want someone to do all that that's £40k pa territory at least (well maybe less in Halifax). Not bloody for free. No mention of travel costs either, perhaps they get the opportunity to pay for their own flights to Miami?

Which is NOT the sort of shite you get an unpaid person that you're openly exploiting to do.

Eastpoint · 31/01/2017 16:30

I guess by placing a really wanky ad and not paying they save anyone sensible from applying.

TheProblemOfSusan · 31/01/2017 16:30

Oh and look. I thought there was a law about this so I checked - yep. Totally illegal not to pay minimum wage if they want the intern to actually do work.

SaucyJack · 31/01/2017 16:31

I should imagine anyone would find themselves constantly challenged by working for a year for no pay.

Felicitylemon1958 · 31/01/2017 16:32

Their website is... bizarre. Directors profiles go to closed twitter pages but found this linked in for one of them: [https://uk.linkedin.com/in/dannyzepeda1]
Check out his first job - wonder if he got paid?!

Felicitylemon1958 · 31/01/2017 16:32

StillSmallVoice · 31/01/2017 16:33

Agree with everyone else. This is an employment contract and as such they will be required to pay at least minimum wage (and they won't get what they are looking for on minimum wage).

And I wouldn't want to work for someone who writes that garbage, even if it paid four times my current salary.

Felicitylemon1958 · 31/01/2017 16:35

My favourite bit of the ad:
