I don't really like jeans but I have one pair of bootcut and I don't care if they're in fashion or not

I prefer maxi skirts and I have a few tiered "gypsy" style ones. I wear what I want and if it's not "trendy" then who cares?!

Mistyshallow · 26/01/2017 14:21

straight jeans don't do much for many of the school mums I see wearing them. and no knee boots don't compliment a hefty leg even if your dress size is a 10. bootcut on the other hand as long they are not baggy and the most flattering for everyone. Fashion is not my cup of tea..

RebelandaStunner · 26/01/2017 14:22

Do it.
My last pair went to a chazza shop a long time ago having not been worn for ages.
Even if they have a comeback I won't be buying anymore.

oldlaundbooth · 26/01/2017 14:23

Boot cuts are alright. They make my fat thighs look thinner.

PolaDeVeboise · 26/01/2017 14:34

Sorry, but I just feel like a total frump in boot cut. It's skinnies all the way for me and I'm an 18

CoraPirbright · 26/01/2017 14:39

Bootcut all the way here. M&S ones & Gap too. Look fucking awful in any other cut!

Natsku · 26/01/2017 14:44

Bootcut look much nicer than straight.

I want flares back though. I had some well good flares when I was a teenager (just thinking of them makes me think like a teenager!), would love a pair like them again.

ShebaShimmyShake · 26/01/2017 14:47

Bootcut flatters, skinny jeans look like shit on almost everyone. Wish I could find slouches again.

toffeeboffin · 26/01/2017 14:50

Thing about skinnies is you have to be, uh, skinny Grin

Blobby10 · 26/01/2017 14:59

Does anyone else find that the 'bootcut' bit of the bootcut jeans varies from brand to brand? I have some bootcut from Next which are almost like flares yet have some 'straight' jeans from levis which comfortably fit my boots underneath them and look good!

Agree with everyone who says skinny jeans are just Shock unless of course they are worn as originally intended with at least knee high boots! And dont get me started on skinny jeans on men Hmm

Lespritdelsietanner · 26/01/2017 15:25

Bootcuts make me look like a shire horse. I can't bear them.

RockyBird · 26/01/2017 15:27

eBay is your friend

guinnessgirl · 26/01/2017 15:30

Jeans are just jeans, I don't care one bit how they're cut so long as they suit me. I pay absolutely no attention to how other people's jeans are cut. I cannot comprehend how anyone can be bothered enough by it that they'd get rid of perfectly good, wearable clothes Confused

Andylion · 26/01/2017 15:35

Elle said they were coming back in, in May 2016. Did they go out again?

I heard that stirrup pants were coming back in, but it never happened.

I buy my jeans from Lands' End. They have bootcut, straight, slim and skinny cuts. I prefer slim and straight. Just wear what you prefer.

OP, if you don't have the room for clothes you don't wear, donate. I went through my clothes this past weekend and made a small pile to take the Salvation Army. The first thing in the pile was a pair bootcut jeans that never wore.

mambono5 · 26/01/2017 15:45

If you are 20, tall and slim by all means be fashionable.

Anyone else should wear clothes that fit and flatter them. If you want to be trendy, buy fashionable accessories. Just enter "bootcut jeans" in pinterest, and see what style you want to imitate. They don't look dated when worn properly.

I agree with all of the above. Skinny jeans only look great on skinny girls. Shame so many don't seem to have got the memo.

EddieStobbart · 26/01/2017 15:54

I've got skinny (well, straight) that I wear for day to day with boots because they are so stretchy. I only ever get compliments when I wear my vintage Levi's low rise bootcut jeans (with zero stretch, made before Lycra was a twinkle in anyone's eye). Random trendy people compliment me, very odd.

HelenaGWells · 26/01/2017 15:56

i've been wearing bootcut jeans for the last 20 years, am I missing something? (any other cut looks shit on me)

Same.

I just altered 3 pairs into straight legs-took me half an hour Grin

GrumpyOldBag · 26/01/2017 16:26

Most people on here seem to think that skinny jeans are the only alternative to boot cut.

Well, I stopped wearing boot cuts quite a few years ago, but have never worn a pair of skinnies either. Now I wear slim fit or straight legs from Gap & Boden.

I feel that on me the boot cuts will look dated. But you lot have persuaded me to at least try them on before I chuck them.

I think height makes a big difference - I am 5' 3". If I was 5' 6" or above I think any style would work better.

You can buy bootcut jeans in NewLook and H&M you know... Wearing good fit and flattering clothes is the best advice you can give someone.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 26/01/2017 16:41

Don't donate them but don't start wearing them again unless/until they start selling them in Topshop/New Look/H&M.
Its a litmus test for jean cut acceptability to anyone under the age of 25.

Just had a flick through topshops jeans. They're all either skinny or "mom" jeans (no idea). Most have rips. Lots with embroidery and multiple pairs with tassels or pom poms round the ankles.
If that's the litmus test to what jeans are fashionable I shall continue to not follow fashion.

Chattymummyhere · 26/01/2017 16:46

I have still tagged bootcut jeans from new look in my wardrobe and a pair I wore once at my "fattest" but I dropped a size. They are not flattering on me and took me ages to work it out Blush but I still have them in the wardrobe for some strange reason. I wear skinny or straight cut.

mambono5 · 26/01/2017 16:49

I don't think you can get away with these when you are over 18

IfNotNowThenWhenever · 26/01/2017 16:55

You should always wear shapes that suit. Following fashion for the sake of it is a mistake. I'm currently wearing a pair of flared jeans that make my arse look great Grin
