So I've started up a cake business and I'm struggling with pricing. There is quite a lot of competition in my area so want to price competitively but also want to make a profit! Some of the people I've quoted have been fine with my prices, others have scoffed and said far too expensive. I've attached a picture. Can you tell me how much you would expect to pay? I won't tell you how much I would charge to influence you

ahh it'll be the air tight container then. Blush

Once you cut it off the cake is still good though.

My hands aren't very steady either, i get 10 out of 10 for effort though.

Business is about margins. If you can add value to ingredients that's your profitability. It can't be too difficult to reduce cost. If the icing is the big cost then reduce that and charge what the market will bear

Commercial cakes done on a small scale cost, thats the way of the world - supermarkets can charge a tenner because they are churning out a ton of these things.

A word of caution about using Disney and other well known characters - copyright law DOES apply to you, it DOES apply to cakes - if you are selling cakes and you have images of past work up on your website that includes characters you do not have the relevant commercial usage licence for.. you CAN get sued..

And yes, Disney does sue 'little people' too, do not think that because you are one person in damp Britain cooking Mickey cakes, that they won't sue you - they could, they have in the past, they will again!
