In fairness he was standing and playing this afternoon (at night he is in a grobag and we are soft so he doesn't go in there til he's already asleep Blush )

I was hoping he'd be at least 2 before he went into a bed. He's only just started sleeping through in the last couple of months and now we're going to be up every 5 minutes when he climbs out and walks into us aren't we??

I wasn't ready for this. Collective wisdom massively appreciated please!

When I was a kid, dad took the door handles off and put them back on upside down to stop me getting out of the room so easily! It really confused a babysitter they forgot to tell Grin.

Dd1 was about 18 months when we moved to bed but dd2 climbed out and ended up suspended by her ankle (grobag) at 10months after the second time we accepted it wasn't a fluke and put her in a bed Confused on the plus side she got up with her sister in the night and followed her to the potty so ended up potty trained at 15months with no help from me. Dd1 took till she was nearly 4

Put a stair gate on his door...secure every piece of furniture to the wall (you don't want a toddler pulling over a wardrobe etc)..

Sell his cot/cot bed and get a cheapo toddler bed (they're about £20 second hand on the FB selling sites) They are significantly lower than cots

Put a pool noodle (or rolled up towel) under the bed sheet.

Job done.

Both of mine were out of the cot by 15 months. I find it a bit odd when people have toddlers in cots that are designed for babies.

DS1 was in his cot bed until 19 months when we moved him into a single as we needed the cotbed for DS2 who was 5months old. We bought DS2 a full sized single car bed (2nd hand, £30 eBay) as he is car mad and he helped us move his room around so it was a 'big boy' room, put up some new framed car posters and make him bed. I was VERY nervous the first night and was expecting endless wake ups, he surprised us all and has slept absolutely fine in there. We have a few nights when he sneaks out of bed but 9/10 he sleeps well, an added bonus (don't tell dH) is that when he wakes up in a morning at around 6.30 he toddles into our room and comes for a cuddle.
