To be really looking forward to Trainspotting 2 (film)

The first Trainspotting film remains the only one I have ever seen at the cinema more than once - in fact I think I saw it three times with different friends.

I can't wait to see the new one.

Interesting to read interviews with the actors - who are mostly the same age as me, and of course we are all 20 years or so older.

Well it wasn't as good as the first one! They never are...

Madeyemoodysmum · 19/02/2017 19:31

Loved it myself. Maybe even more than original

Makinglists · 19/02/2017 19:32

And so you should. It was bloody great. Like catching up with old friends

HardToDeal · 19/02/2017 19:36

I said that, about it being like meeting old friends again. Loved the sort of understanding there was that everyone - actors, characters, audience, director... - had changed over time and that the nostalgia was acknowledged but not overly indulgent. Found it really uplifting and positive, too, strangely?

Went to see it for my 9th wedding anniversary and I really enjoyed it. Soundtrack is really good. Some parts are comical. Good storyline picked up fron 1st film

bumblingmum · 19/02/2017 20:36

I loved it. Different to the first but still brilliant!

AgentCooper · 19/02/2017 20:39

I loved it. Cracking dialogue, really funny and very moving. I loved the scene in the Orange Lodge (speaking as a Catholic here, I thought it was very fair/equally ridiculed both sides) Grin

I really wanted to like the first one. I tried very hard, honestly. The problem was I found it really repulsive and felt it reinforces every negative stereotype I've ever heard about drug addiction. And Scotland. Good soundtrack though.

SharkiraSharkira · 19/02/2017 20:53

I really liked the first one and was nervous about the second because I was worried I wouldn't like it as much but it was just as good Smile Thought provoking too!

It sounds odd but in the first one I felt that Renton was actually basically a good person who acted badly because of the drugs but the second one it struck me that actually he isn't really, none of them are! Except maybe Spud and I was glad how it turned out for him.

Robstersgirl · 19/02/2017 23:15

I walked out of the cinema and said 'I think the lack of heroin ruined it for me' Smile

Zhx3 · 19/02/2017 23:27

I remember seeing the first one in Liverpool on the night it opened. Soundtrack to my youth!

Loved the second one, although spent most of it in a state of high anxiety over how terrifying Begbie is...
