To ask DP to do one "night shift" with baby

I'm breaking. Baby is 4 months but doesn't sleep more than 2 hrs at a time. Breastfed but will have a bottle. I've done everything since he was born (I thought things would be much more "shared" and we had also discussed this). I am in desperate need of sleep.

I just asked DP if he could do a night tonight and I could stay at a friend's and he's huffed at me and rolled over. I want to cry.
AIBU to bring this up again in the morning and to want him to do ONE NIGHT in 4 months??

Yanbu op, my baby is 5 months and dh does so much for him. He wakes up with baby in the night even though he works and I'm at home. We also take turns in the spare room sometimes to give us a better sleep. You have my sympathy, I know how exhausting it is Flowers

YANBU
When ours were little DH (working full time) would do the Fri/Sat nights and I would do the week ones (SAHM). We would each get a lie in either Sat or Sun while the other one took care of the DCs.
Basically our logic was: if he is tired he can't do his job properly, but if I am too tired I can't do mine (= take care of the DCs) properly/safely either - a certain level of tiredness is ok but I couldn't function on too little sleep either.

Sympathies, my DH hasn't done a single night shift in 17 months and I went back to work 8 months ago. He sleeps in the spare room and as I co sleep and breast feed it has just been easier for me to do it all.

In the early days though I could have cried with exhaustion as even though DH said he would help, DS screamed whenever anyone but me held him and every single time he said he would take him so I could have a nap he brought him up to me within half an hour. I can count on one hand the number of times he has gotten up with him in the mornings and given me a lie in as on weekends he gets up early and goes to play football so I'm still left doing breakfast etc! Grrrr
