So jealous of my friends with newborns

AIBU to ask for your support?

Baby is now 13 days old and we've been home from hospital for a grand total of 2 days. They don't have a clue what is wrong with him apart from his oxygen levels being low.

I have a few friends who have also had babies within the last few weeks and they are out and about while I'm stuck in this place.

I just want my baby to be well and enjoy family time. Currently me and dh are doing back to back shifts - I'm on days, he's on nights. I miss him, I miss life. I'm just so sad and worried. My newborn won't be a newborn for much longer.

Massive pity party, sorry

Hi Carrick, just found your thread.

So pleased to read that you are finally home and I hope things start getting better from here. I can only imagine how harsh it must feel to have this unexpected hurdle thrown across your path, having made it through a pregnancy and birth trying so hard to keep positive. Definitely what various pp said, it is ok to feel sad about the way things have been. Keep pressing for the answers you need on the medical side of things. Is there anything that would help make these days you have now as a family the best they can be? Do those things! Keep us posted how you get on x

DS had terrible reflux. Any time I put him flat he had to have a Muslim under his head to catch the inevitable flood of milk that would appear from nose and mouth (but that didn't actually bother him). Personally I'd say try to get used to putting him down when you can. Bouncy chair was great for daytime naps, sling a must, binned the carrycot and got a wedge for the main seat in the pushchair, tilted the cot up a bit. And ranitidine. Great stuff. Hope you settle into your new life quickly and all get some sleep!
