To not allow DS to drink tea and coffee age 12

DS started secondary school in September and recently asked if he could have a cup of coffee as a drink when arriving home.

I've said no but as a child of the 1970's I had my first cup of coffee age 4 after been taught how to make one for my parents Grin

So am I just being unreasonable ?

I'm pretty sure my first solid food was rich tea biscuits mashed up with weak tea. in the 60s

My DS 12 loves a cup of tea. Has one every night before bed, and often one during the day too. Also has one sugar in it. I've always hated coffee, but had tea now and then, but now I have one pretty much every time he does. Blush

I didn't like tea or coffee growing up, but became an avid 'proper coffee' drinker at uni.

Originally that was more about fuel to do all-nighters, but I got a taste for it and survived on coffee for years until I became pregnant and had to come off the coffee cold turkey!

DS will occasionally ask for tea, which I'm happy to oblige but don't tend to offer as I do forget children might actually like hot drinks!

When i got home from primary school my gran would make me 2 slices of buttery toast and a milky tea with 1 sugar.
Can't stand milk or sugar in coffee but then due to a medical condition i react to caffeine with UTI symptoms, so not had tea or coffee 9and virtually no soda) in years. Bar a sneaky occasional bit of haagen dasz coffee ice cream, so much yum.
