This post (which is the post written 9 hours ago on the timeline about customer service) has got me really fired up! So as not to be rude about an entire nation would it not have been better to have just written that she was no longer going to be selling to Brits because of issues with the customs charge rather than rant on about our boring taste, arrogance etc Or am I being unreasonable and she is absolutely entitled to air her grievances in this way?

EuropeanSwallow I didn't realise until I visited the states how little holiday they get. We get 5.6 weeks (including bank holidays) as standard. US workers have no minimum holiday requirement, but I understand 2 weeks is about standard is that right?

So if American people have much less time for holidays abroad than we do in the UK, it's not surprising they don't travel abroad so much, and many know so little about other countries.

I know this isn't the only reason, but it was one I didn't appreciate until recently.

This cannot be the business owner it must be a disgruntled employee who got the login details????

She has a previous posting on the site telling people to stop cancelling orders "In order to provide the best service, this behavior needs to cease."

I think she has clear ideas about how she wants to do business - a sort of cross between Donald Trump and Basil Fawlty and I wish her luck Wink

The seller has replied to the comments on FB and it hasn't got any better, I was hoping she may have just been having a super bad day but apparently not!

I think it is the business owner. I'm starting to see things like this more and more. I've sent business owners go on to their Facebook pages with rsnty messages often about pretty specific situations as well. It really puts me off using them.
At least one person on that thread saying she was a xenophobe and they wouldn't be using her again was Canadian so it's not just UK based customers she is going to lose.

TitaniasCloset · 09/01/2017 22:19

Followed the whole sorry saga on fb.

This idiot has no idea how to run a business. She is so rude and arrogant and yes entitled but is blasting her customers and all UK people for it.

kali110 · 10/01/2017 11:34

titanias why what have they put now? Times like this i wish i had Facebook! ( or my dp was home so i could nick his....Grin)

kali110 are you saying that if you click on the link in the OP you can't see the page? I thought it was public so anyone can see it whether they're on Facebook or not.

To be honest I get her point. She is a small business / etsy seller and she is receiving negative feedback from U.K. Customers because they didn't realise that would need to pay high customs charges.

Feedback is an important on websites like this so yes I understand why she would be pissed off. Her rant is a bit OTT but I get her point and understand why as a small business she would stop selling to the UK.

I do completely get the feedback thing. I sold something on eBay in the run up to Christmas and got bad feedback because Royal Mail took longer to deliver. 2nd class signed for is 3-5 business days and it took 7 days (due too auction ending on Friday so weekend coupled with and busy time of year). She said in comments she 'expected the item 3 days after auction ended not 7 but item was perfect'. If she needed the item faster I could have arranged faster/ next day delivery but most people don't want the extra expense. Now my perfect feedback score is gone because someone didn't take into account the postal service would be busy over the festive period (and the weekend doesn't count as business days).

I bought a toy for DD (only available in USA) for Christmas and I was prepared for the customs charges. I made a point of checking before I ordered what sort of costs where involved and weighed up if it was worth it or not. I expect most people would expect to pay customs charges when ordering outside the EU so why would they then blame the seller for this?

bollocksybollocks · 10/01/2017 12:25

I completely get the feedback thing (although looking at her shop her feedback is really good) I also get that customers and possibly us Brits more than most can be a pain in the arse to deal with, but that doesn't mean you should choose to deal with it but denigrating an entire nation in a huge rant on a public forum

bollocksybollocks · 11/01/2017 06:37

Yes she has deleted the post! I'm surprised she kept it there for that long!
