To eat toast in bed?

Back from the nursery drop off and straight into bed with some marmite toast and left over Christmas chocolates. Is this a judgeable offence like the whole pyjama thing or does everyone eat in bed?

I have happy memories of breakfast in bed as a child, only happened if you were very poorly. Now I can't bear the idea of eating in bed, cup of tea is lovely though.

Rrross1ges · 09/01/2017 21:48

I love an excuse to eat in bed. I especially love being in a hotel and having a bed picnic. I also have a fantasy of going to breakfast in a hotel in my pyjamas but DH is not supportive.

honeyroar · 09/01/2017 21:49

I'm in the no camp. You never get rid of the crumbs, even when you think you have. No biscuits or pastries either. Only cereal and drinks, as someone said. Nothing goes cold then either! And the real key to breakfast in bed is to get someone else to bring it to you.

Streuth · 09/01/2017 21:51

Just a glass of water, far away from the bed.

But I used to stay at a friends who would bring us both toast in bed. It really felt amazing, I have no idea why!!!

Farmmummy · 09/01/2017 21:59

YABVU for 3 reasons... 1. It's marmite not Bovril (prepares for flaming)

  1. I'm on a diet and bloody starving
  2. I waaannnnttt toast (in or out of bed!)

Having completely derailed thread going back to the original question YANBU to eat toast in bed (apart from the marmite Grin )

1horatio · 10/01/2017 06:44

I've done that when sick.

Chock would be fine.

Crumbed in my bed? Not so fine.

1horatio · 10/01/2017 06:46

Chocolate and crumbs. Oops ;)

questioningitall · 10/01/2017 08:14

Surely YABVU to be back in bed at 9.50 whether you are eating marmite toast or not!?

RedStripeIassie · 10/01/2017 09:36

farmmummy I should be in a diet but it's just not happening Grin.

questioning I love a daytime nap. There's nothing unreasonable about it is there?

Yabu for preferring Marmite over Vegemite!

I had Vegemite toasted muffins and tomato soup in bed last night for supper. No crumbs though. I use a tray for bed eating.

Farmmummy · 10/01/2017 12:49

Ooohhh muffins!

lozzylizzy · 10/01/2017 12:55

I change beds on a Sunday (after DH booze sweat on a saturday night) I make DH breakfast in bed and run him a bubble bath before he takes DS1 to his football match.

Then I cook a Sunday roast with my pjs up to my tits Grin

I can't stand food in bedrooms. Tea and coffee is fine, but never toast or cereal. I really like a nice clean, crumb-free bed. I hate loafing around in bed when I'm awake though (obv unless ill). I'd much rather be getting on with the day.

Cleanermaidcook · 10/01/2017 21:11

YABU because i'm working in nursery with 2 year olds and would rather be in bed with food!!

btw the grimmness and filth behind the bed and the crumbs in it are absolutely fine - i bet i could rival yours but MARMITE eeuugghhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happyhippy45 · 10/01/2017 21:25

The crumbs are easy to get rid of.....but what if you dropped the toast? It would look like you shit the bed.

Ferrisday · 10/01/2017 21:29

I don't even sit down with toast!
I have to eat it hot so it gets eaten as I'm the kitchen

plominoagain · 10/01/2017 21:36

I take my marmite toast to bed with me when I come home from night shift .

Come through the front door , work coat off , yard coat on , kettle on , let the dogs out , put the horses out for the day which takes 5 minutes , back indoors , put the toast in , empty the dishwasher to get clean cups , knife and plate , make tea , toast pops up, butter and marmite , and then upstairs to bed . Drink tea , throw crusts to unashamed begging greyhounds , then we all go to sleep for the day . Got it down to a fine art .

Fantastic! Me and DP often eat toast in bed Smile

BlueClearSkies · 10/01/2017 21:38

Never seen the need to eat in bed. So never do.

I have a friend who takes a curry or kebab to bed after a night out. Yuk!

SENPARENT · 10/01/2017 21:41

I hate crumbs in bed so eating toast in bed is only for when you're ill.

MissStein · 10/01/2017 21:41

but but but dont you just hoover crumbs off your bed when it gets an unacceptable level? therefore allowing you eat to your hearts content in bed?

JaxingJump · 10/01/2017 21:46

I've eaten a fry in bed.

(Ducks and runs)

SilkThreads · 10/01/2017 21:51

Only thing ok to eat in bed is fruit.
and tea and coffee and water.
definitely NOT cooked food (inc toast).

Olympiathequeen · 10/01/2017 21:55

As long as there are no used condoms under the bed (a la Tracey Emmen) you still have a shred of dignity even if a very crumby bed

Redglitter · 10/01/2017 21:57

Ive never ever seen the appeal of breakfast in bed. Much as I love my bed & pj's I can't imagine going back to bed once I'd been up and out. I'd rather curl up on the sofa
