Phrases you really hate on MN

Following on from the fabulous type of threads you really hate on here, I thought I would start a similar thread for phrases used on MN that really get your goat.
I'll start off with 'in this house', usually used in conjunction with some smug statement to make the OP feel inadequate/bad.
For example 'Oh, we love books in this house!' or 'there's no faddy eaters allowed in this house' or 'we all have to respect each other in this house'.
Over to you ....

OP posts:
Magzmarsh · 07/01/2017 14:37

I agree with all of the above and would like to nominate "it's an invitation not a summons" especially when the op is really stressed out about a wedding or significant event. You can almost smell the smug condescension wafting from the screen.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 07/01/2017 14:38

'Did you mean to be so rude' - said with a tinkly laugh and a head tilt for best.

'Err yes I did thanks.

Did you mean to sound so fucking smug? Grin'

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/01/2017 14:38

When posters just say YABU, but without giving a reason.

SaltySalt · 07/01/2017 14:39

Is this the new cancel the cheque?

Name changed Maui naice ham pom bears

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 07/01/2017 14:40

Or for childfree weddings 'oh the bride doesn't realise that it's hard for you to find a babysitter - she will cringe when she had her own'

Errrr no - not having children does not make someone too thick to work that out. They would rather you didn't come than being your pfb along - get over it

AMillionMilesFromThere · 07/01/2017 14:41

I can't stand 'squeeeeeee'

PurpleDaisies · 07/01/2017 14:41

Or for childfree weddings 'oh the bride doesn't realise that it's hard for you to find a babysitter - she will cringe when she had her own'
Totally agree! I hate this.

Magzmarsh · 07/01/2017 14:42

"Entitled" is quite annoying and the blasé way people diagnose narcissistic personality disorder willy billy.

EverySongbirdSays · 07/01/2017 14:42

Or worse someone who DID have a child free wedding themselves incandescent that they can't take their PFB to a wedding.

WHY DON'T THEY UNDERSTAND?

See it as a lesson, and accept it.

Magzmarsh · 07/01/2017 14:42

Or even nilly Wink

DameXanaduBramble · 07/01/2017 14:43

'Spat my coffee all over the screen'. Course you did.

'As you were'.

Anything with the prefix 'Oh, and'.

'Wow, just wow' Fuck off, just fuck off.

Purpledasies 'baby' is traditionally how a baby is referred to, any baby.

FinnegansCake · 07/01/2017 14:44

Yes, yes, all the boiling piss and itchy teeth stuff! Awful!
I agree with everything that's been mentioned so far.
Any reference to Maui, Pombears, naice anything.
Rudeness when people are upset about something and are told "You're unhinged" etc.
"Log it with the police" for the slightest thing.

Magzmarsh · 07/01/2017 14:45

I really hate the wow one too and it's usually about something quite unremarkable.

MsGameandWatch · 07/01/2017 14:46

Not so much a particular phrase but supposed, decisive one sentence responses with "HTH" at the end. You can almost feel how pleased with their pithy and incisive posting style the poster is. This manner of posting is found 99% of the time in AIBU e.g. "You sound like a spoilt, precious princess OP, HTH."

And "well why did you have a child with him then". This comment adds precisely nothing to the discussion and gives no assistance to poster who is usually in some distress. Just side tracks, while the poster explains to randoms on the internet, the ins and outs of how she came to be pregnant.

Magzmarsh · 07/01/2017 14:46

Not your circus monkeys was funny for about 5 minutes, it's just boring now.

PurpleDaisies · 07/01/2017 14:47

'baby' is traditionally how a baby is referred to, any baby.

I meant "I'm taking baby to the shops" or "would baby like some food", as if "baby" is their name. I hate it.

MsGameandWatch · 07/01/2017 14:48

And exchanging "bleddy" for "bloody".

Why?

Manumission · 07/01/2017 14:49

"Boils my piss" is the worst one in regular use. By a long way.

DameXanaduBramble · 07/01/2017 14:49

Yes I know what you meant. That is traditionally how you refer to your baby!

PurpleDaisies · 07/01/2017 14:50

And exchanging "bleddy" for "bloody"

Yes, and asterisks in swear words. Just use a different word if you can't bear to type fuck.

bearfishdoodle · 07/01/2017 14:50

'YY' makes me think of women with plummy middle class accents braying in agreement.

Magzmarsh · 07/01/2017 14:50

I always read "bleddy" in a prince Philip voice Confused

PurpleDaisies · 07/01/2017 14:50

That's irrelevant to me dame. I still hate it. Smile

BishopBrennansArse · 07/01/2017 14:51

DameXanaduBramble · 07/01/2017 14:51

You sounded like you didn't know why people said it, irrelevant or not.
