WIBU to ram this van blocking me in!?

EnvyAngry
Been blocked in by a blue van. Parked outside some houses where there are no parking restrictions at all to take 9 mo DTwins for a walk and have come back to find a van parked at a weird angle blocking me in. There's another car parked next to me and no way I can wiggle out without bashing the car or van.

What do I do?

Does she know who owns the car next to you? Maybe you could ask them if they'd be kind enough to move so you can get out?

bananaqueen · 07/01/2017 14:04

No way any sort of 168 point turn could get you out? So annoying, hope you're out soon op

MeDented · 07/01/2017 14:05

I really need that diagram, I can't work out what's going on here at all! Are you parked normally alongside a kerb and the van parked squint at the side of you?

Sugarlightly · 07/01/2017 14:06

I called 101 when a car parked in front of my garage and they called the owner to come and move it

MeDented · 07/01/2017 14:06

Could old lady help guide you to do a hundred point wiggle to get you out?

SoleBizzz · 07/01/2017 14:06

This is worrying as you have two babies with you.

EweAreHere · 07/01/2017 14:11

That's really rubbish.

I don't know why the police can't have cars towed when they do things like this.

Wdigin2this · 07/01/2017 14:13

Someone parked across my shop drive, (dropped curb) and I couldn't get out to go home....1 1/2 hour journey!
I tried knocking doors, tried the horn...nothing! I called a passing police officer, he said nothing police can do, but if it was still there in the morning, they'd ticket it!
Two hours later, I caught a train, and had to get a lift back next day, the car was gone....bloody furious, even put the reg number on FB, never found out who it was!

Ginorchoc · 07/01/2017 14:15

Phone the non emergency number with the registration number of the van and explain you've two babies with you and ask for their advice.

MrsSeverusSnape · 07/01/2017 14:15

I hope you're free now OP.

Wdigin2this · 07/01/2017 14:15

Headelf, are you still there?

HyacinthsBucket · 07/01/2017 14:16

See if it has been left unlocked? You could take handbrake off and push it out the way then..............

RupertsMum2 · 07/01/2017 14:16

Perhaps the old lady has invited her in for lunch.

Kidnapped · 07/01/2017 14:22

Doesn't sound like a local if 2 people on the street haven't seen the van before. People tend to be aware of which vehicles come and go on their own street.

Do any of the houses look like they are having building work done (scaffolding, skip in front garden kind of thing)?

Could be a tradesman from there.

Could be someone leafleting around the neighbourhood.

thisisillyria · 07/01/2017 14:28

Went out this morning, and on returning to the house, reached the end of the road, ready to turn left into our road, only to find a van parked at the corner, partially across the end of the road! There was no way we could make the turn into our road, so we had to wait for him to amble along, reverse his van and drive off up our road out of the way. No apology, no sign of embarrassment that there was a perfectly good parking space slightly further down the road that he could have used, only he would have had to walk ten feet out of his way to get there, and he'd forgotten what his legs were for, bless him.
It shocks me just how many totally selfish people there are around.

LucklessMonster · 07/01/2017 14:35

Twunt. Ram him or her but we all know it's a man!

FeralBeryl · 07/01/2017 14:40

Right what's in front of your car and to the right of you? You look to have a bit of wiggle room behind. We'll get you out if there's a way!

CaroleService · 07/01/2017 14:49

Tell the police you have hungry twins and no way of getting them home else.

TSSDNCOP · 07/01/2017 14:52

It looks like you're on a bend, can you get your front wheels up on the kerb and then to a hard right out?

UnGoogleable · 07/01/2017 14:53

Wdigin2this I would have been raging!! Can't believe the Police refused to help in your situation, surely that car was parked illegally?

OP, I can't quite figure out whether you're at home, or you're sitting stranded in your car?

HelsBels5000 · 07/01/2017 14:57

I think i might be inclined to very slowly reverse, and just nudge it back a bit. Or recruit some people from nearby houses to push the van out of the way?

hollmes · 07/01/2017 15:01

Are you still stuck op? I vote ram the van... but probably shouldn't listen to me.

lovelearning · 07/01/2017 15:02

recruit some people from nearby houses to push the van out of the way

A smaller vehicle could be lifted out of the way

I've seen it happen

FutureMrsRanj · 07/01/2017 15:04

I'd ram. But I'm not a responsible driver.

pregnantat50 · 07/01/2017 15:07

Op, I hope your lack of response is because you are now home and this is resolved, please update with the outcome later
